It’s been a short‑term pain for long‑term gain kind of week at Bransford.
A huge thank you to all of our members and visitors for your patience — and an even bigger thank you to our incredible Greenkeeping Team for their hard work throughout this greens‑maintenance week.
Here’s what’s been happening out on the course:
• Scarifying in two directions down to 15–20mm to remove masses of organic matter
• 3 tonnes of sand applied across the greens
• Holes punched to 8 inches to open up the profile and improve drainage
• Sand brushed deep into the channels
• A further 1 tonne of topdressing added
• John Deere aeration to tighten the surface and pull even more sand down
• Final brush, clean‑up, ironing and hole changes
In total, around 75 tonnes of sand used across the course — and the greens were back in play in just 5 days.
This work is essential for improving drainage, keeping surfaces level, removing organic matter and delivering firm, true‑rolling greens all year round.
