Ever notice how the same conversations happen every November?
"I've lost fitness."
"My legs feel weak."
"I need to get serious this winter."
"I'll start strength training when the weather turns."
The problem is that by the time most cyclists decide to take their training seriously, they've already spent months missing opportunities to get stronger, fitter, and more resilient.
The riders who are flying next spring don't usually start in November.
They start now.
While everyone else is simply riding their bike, they're building strength, improving stability, addressing weaknesses, and creating the foundations that will support bigger power, better endurance, and more consistent riding next season.
Because fitness isn't built in a panic over winter.
It's built through months of consistent work.
If you're over 40, this matters even more.
Strength declines faster.
Recovery takes longer.
Niggles become injuries if they're ignored.
The good news?
You don't need endless hours of training.
You don't need to give up your club rides.
You don't need a complicated plan.
You just need the right combination of strength training, smart riding, and recovery.
Start now, and you'll be miles ahead when everyone else begins their annual November reset.

“After three months, I was hitting power peaks. After five, I qualified for the World Gran Fondo Championships — my number one target.” — Paddy O’Clery
That’s what happens when you build strength properly. More power. Faster recovery. Longer rides without blowing up.
And it’s not just Paddy — every cyclist I work with says the same: Why didn’t I do this sooner?
So if you’re over 40, want to climb better, ride faster, or just feel stronger on the bike — why wouldn’t this work for you?

It's not too late to make 2026 Your Best Year Yet!
Here’s what one of our amazing clients had to say about their experience:
"I signed up with the intention to conquer a certain climb, something that I had struggled with previously. After our initial review, Andrew wrote a bespoke training program that hasn’t just improved my cycling performance, it’s improved my overall fitness and with it my mental health far more than I could imagine. The training programs are really easy to follow through the app, and he is always available if I need guidance.”
This is the kind of transformation that happens when you invest in your goals and commit to a structured, personalised approach. 🚀
If you’re ready to crush your cycling dreams, feel fitter than ever, and build confidence both on and off the bike, it’s time to get started.
Let’s make 2026 the year you destroy your goals! 💥

Here's something most cyclists don't realise.
Getting older doesn't automatically make you slower.
What makes most riders slower is losing muscle mass, strength and power year after year without doing anything about it.
The good news?
Strength can be trained.
Power can be improved.
Resilience can be rebuilt.
I've worked with riders in their 50s, 60s and even 70s who are producing some of the best numbers they've ever achieved.
Not because they found a magic training plan.
Because they finally started training intelligently.
The free July Reset Guide explains where to focus your efforts.
You can only access the guide inside the private Facebook group, Strength and Fitness Training for Cyclists...

One of the things I love most about coaching is seeing what happens when someone finally commits to a structured plan.
Not perfection.
Not endless hours.
Just consistent work.
Recently, I've seen clients:
Improve FTP by over 25 watts.
Complete their longest rides ever.
Qualify for major events.
Ride stronger than they did ten years ago.
The common factor?
Consistency.
The July Reset Guide shows you how to create that consistency during the second half of the season.
This is only available inside the Facebook community. BUT, it is free to join, and there is so much more to gain from being in the group!

July already.
Half the cycling season has gone.
So here's a question.
Are you where you hoped you'd be when you set your goals back in January?
For many cyclists, this is the point where reality kicks in.
The big events are done or approaching fast.
Motivation has faded.
Training has become a little random.
Life has taken over.
The good news?
There is still plenty of season left.
The riders who finish the year strongest aren't usually the ones who had the perfect winter.
They're the ones who stop, reassess, and put some structure back into their training when it matters most.
I've put together a free July Reset Guide to help cyclists over 40 do exactly that.

July already.
Half the season has gone.
So here's the question...
Are you where you hoped you'd be when you set those goals back in January?
For many cyclists, this is the point where reality kicks in.
The big events are either done or just around the corner.
The motivation from New Year has faded.
Life has got busy.
Training has become a bit random.
And yet, there's still plenty of season left.
The riders who finish the year strongest aren't usually the ones who smashed January.
They're the ones who regroup in July, get some structure back into their training, and stay consistent through the second half of the year.
You don't need to ride more.
You don't need to give up your club rides.
You don't need some miracle training plan.
You just need a sensible approach that combines strength training, smart riding, and proper recovery.
Especially if you're over 40.
I've put together a free guide to help cyclists avoid the mistakes that leave them frustrated, tired, and going backwards in the second half of the season.

Stronger. Leaner. More capable.
That's exactly what happens when strength training is done properly.
A huge well done to Con McEwan, who has been working with Cycle Strength for the last couple of months and is already seeing the results:
"So been with Andy and Cycle Strength for a couple of months now. Physically feel stronger and I've lost a bit of weight around my middle but gained a better shape overall. Strength training programmes are very good and easy to follow. Overall I'd deffo recommend if in any doubt."
The numbers matter, but what matters more is what those numbers allow you to do.
This year alone, Con has already completed:
âś… Etape Caledonia
âś… Chase the Sun South
Long days in the saddle. Big miles. Big challenges.
The goal of strength training isn't to spend more time in the gym.
It's to make every ride feel stronger, every climb feel more manageable, and to help you keep performing year after year.
Great work, Con. Looking forward to seeing what the rest of the season brings.

Almost 12 months ago, I was flat on my back in Dubrovnik Hospital with a fractured C7.
And honestly? I shouldn’t have walked away from that accident (actually, I swam away from it).
But here’s what made the difference: years of strength training, decent bone density, solid muscle mass, and a core that actually does its job. It didn’t just protect me, it sped up my recovery.
Now I am back to full strength and taking 2026 by storm!
And that’s why I created the Strength & Fitness for Cyclists Facebook group.
Because most cyclists miss the bigger picture.
You don’t train just for the good days.
You train for the days things go wrong…
…and for the days you want to ride further, faster, stronger.
If you want support, guidance, and a place where cyclists over 40 are actually improving, get yourself in the Strength and Fitness Training for Cyclists group.
