Tales form the old world as some of the guys and gals from the WVLF community headed down to board in brum at the weekend to take part in a battle march style (think combat patrol or spearhead but better) entry level tournament for the old world. It seems much fun was had and new friends were made and brought into the fold. An especially great shout out to WVLF
community member Tash for picking up the most sporting award, arguably the best award a person can win. Congratulations Tash as well as everyone else.

In the old world path to glory campaign Henry's Grand Cathay squared up against Jays dark elves. Here Jay with the battle report.

"As the two armies marched towards one another, the cunning Dark Elves set their first trap. A unit of Dark Riders used their scouting skills to appear on Cathay's flank, threatening a cannon and drawing the attention of the enemy cavalry. Though heavily outnumbered, their mission was never to survive, only to sow confusion.

With the battlefield unfolding, both forces advanced cautiously towards the objectives. Arrows darkened the sky, spells crackled through the air, and cannons thundered across the field. Despite the ferocity of the barrage, casualties remained surprisingly light as both armies weathered the storm.
The Dark Elves seized the initiative by claiming the majority of the objectives, forcing Cathay to advance into their waiting blades.

On the flank, the Cathayan cavalry finally caught and destroyed the Dark Riders. Their sacrifice, however, had already achieved its purpose, delaying a large portion of the enemy force and buying precious time for the rest of the army.

The battle reached its climax when the mighty Terracotta Sentinel crashed ino the Kharibdyss.

The monstrous construct towered over the battlefield, but the beast refused to fall alone. As the struggle raged, the High Beastmaster swooped in atop his Manticore.

Together, beast and monster tore the Sentinel apart, sending the colossal construct crashing to the earth before turning their attention towards the floating Sky Lantern.

Fate then dealt Cathay another cruel blow. One of their cannons catastrophically misfired, exploding in a shower of splintered timber and shattered iron, leaving nothing but smoke where the war machine once stood.

Elsewhere, the Cathayan Lord smashed into the Dark Elf Cold One Chariot, battering it until only a single wound remained. The crew clung on by the narrowest of margins, refusing to abandon the fight.

The Sky Lantern unleashed devastating fire upon the Cold One Knights, leaving only a handful of survivors. Before it could finish them, however, the victorious Kharibdyss and Manticore crashed into the airborne war machine, dealing massive damge but not before it got some angry blows back, severely hurting the many headed beast

Seizing the momentum, the monsters thundered onward into the Cathayan infantry, who had been locked in a brutal stalemate with the Dark Elf Warriors for two turns.
As the dust settled, the battlefield belonged to Naggaroth. Through careful manoeuvring, monstrous strength, and a little fortune on their side, the Dark Elves secured a decisive victory."

In the old world path to glory campaign Logans chaos warband met face to face with Jays dark elves to determine who really is the true big bad.

"The chaos warriors continue their mighty warpath in the name of nurgle and find a band of dark elves skulking about, the battle raged for a while but with the might of the new chaos giant the chaos duo brought low the dark elves, Dökkr and Eila both began to hear the whispers of the lord of plagues in their ears but what they told their followers were different to one another, a clash of paths, Dökkr called to follow the path through the mountains whilst Eila decided upon the path through the swamps."

Looks as though the warriors of chaos were true evil this time around.

In the old world's path to glory campaign. Elliots Dwarfen Slayer host took on Henry's army of Grand Cathay. Now we know a Dwarf slayers sole aim is to die but this was just on a whole other level. As with the aid of two of Grand Cathays iconic units, the sentinel and the balloon to help guide the artillery. The dwarves were basically fish in a barrel with Henry's cavalry being able to mop up any survivors.

In the path to glory in the old world after getting battered by Jacks orcs, Mikes Ogre's sought to recoup their losses. Jared's High elves in order to prevent this deployed reinforcements from the local garrison to deal with the threat.

But a hungry Ogre is a motivated Ogre even more so when a high elf lord on a Pegasus (on a Lion technically) is taken out with a well placed cannonball from the iron blaster. Whilst the elves put up a decent defensive(despite Jared's dice saying otherwise) the ogres were not to be denied their feast this day.

Sometimes we do miss the simpler times with the less who can shoot who beind what cover. but at least no game will be the same.

The path to glory campaign for the old world kicked off with Jacks orcs and goblins (and trolls) taking on Mikes Ogre Kingdoms.
Now as we know in games the dice tell stories. Unfortunately for Mike he dice told him to get stuffed. Mournfang riders were overrun by boar boys. The iron blaster proceed to get a gnoblar stuck in it so it could no longer fire. And Troll hags were running wild through the ranks of ogres. Fair to say this was a decisive victory for Jack and the orcs.

Apologies for the small amount of pics but Mike was so busy getting his arse handed to him that he kinda forgot.

The new season has been written up, the numbers have been counted, the players are excited to get started.

In the path to glory campaign we have a rivalry that's as old as the old world itself. As Elliot's Dwarfen Slayer host go up against there hated enemy(amongst many admittedly) Jack's Green skin forces of orcs and trolls. Both sides gave as good as they got but neither side was able to break the stalemate with the generals of each force both delivering a mortal blow to the other meaning both sides had to withdraw and regroup. Which resulted in a draw so it seems the rivalry between dwarves and Greenskins is far from settled.

This does end the 1000pts battles of the path to glory campaign. Next time the armies go up to 1500pts. I can't wait to see what toys come out to play next.

Our Joshy was once again let lose to attend the Pitch Black pre-release event held over at Board In Brum yesterday!

Very excited to get his hands on the Miraidon deck! (he loves those goofy dragon types) After studying the deck and working out a “good” strategy, he ended up going 1 win 2 losses. Some very strong plays from the Dhelmise decks, once they get set up, there’s no stopping em!

Can’t wait to see what happens with the rest of the hits when the set comes out next week!
