This evening I stepped out of my comfort zone & I'm so glad that I did ☺️

I joined four complete strangers as a Phoenix Angel to support 100 people on a 3 hour breathwork journey at The Grand Palace Wolverhampton, formerly Darlington St. Methodist church.

Wow! What an experience ❀️

Thank you to for inviting me into your fold & trusting me to hold space for some amazing people. I'm forever grateful for the opportunities this little life of mine throws my way πŸ™

I've been seeing a lot of posts lately saying, "If your advert is AI, I'm not going."

I get that nothing compares to art created by a human. It carries emotion, experience and a depth that no computer can truly replicate.

But I have a confession...

I use AI-powered tools like Canva and PicsArt to help create my social media posts and class flyers.

Not because I'm trying to replace artists.

Because I'm not one.

I'm not a graphic designer, a photographer or a social media manager. I'm a yoga teacher.

I grew up in a world where advertising your class meant pinning a flyer to a lamp post or popping a card in the local shop window.

The world has changed.

If I want my little yoga business to survive, I have to show up online too. I'd love to be able to pay a talented designer to create every post, but that's simply not something my budget allows right now. So I work with what I have, I learn as I go, and yes... sometimes I let AI help me bring an idea to life.

The graphics might have a little help.

The yoga doesn't.

Every class is taught by me. Every sequence comes from me. Every adjustment, every conversation, every laugh, every moment of encouragement comes from a real person who genuinely cares about the people who walk through the door.

So if you can look past the AI-assisted poster, you'll find a very human yoga class waiting for you.

Whether you're completely new to yoga or looking for a class that will challenge you without taking itself too seriously, I'd love to welcome you.

Do you think it's fair to shame people for using AI tools?

I turned up to teach this morning and saw there were only 3 people booked on.

For a split second, my ego kicked in...
"Am I doing something wrong? Don't people want to come anymore?"

But then I caught it.

The number of people in the room doesn't define my worth, my teaching, or the value of what I offer.

Yoga teaches us to notice the stories our mind creates, without believing every one of them.

So today, three people got exactly the same energy, care and attention as thirty would have. Maybe even more.

It's a good reminder that our ego loves to make things personal. Our practice invites us to let that go.

Have you ever caught your ego telling you a story that wasn't actually true? πŸ’›

Have you ever wondered how yoga can improve your mental health as well as your physical health?

Let me explain using this week's classes as an example...

This week we've been focusing on conscious engagement. Stay with me - it's a bit of a read, but I promise it's worth it!

Most of us drift through the day sitting, standing, walking and moving without giving our bodies a second thought. Unless something hurts, of course. Then that one niggly knee or tight shoulder suddenly gets all of our attention.

The problem is, it's incredibly difficult to consciously think about multiple muscles and joints at the same time.

Enter... Dandasana (Seated Staff Pose).

Quite possibly the least Instagram-worthy yoga pose ever. πŸ˜‚ It looks like you're just sitting there... but underneath, there's SO much happening.

We're drawing the toes back towards the body, pushing the heels away to engage the shins, lifting the kneecaps to fire up the quads.

Then comes Mula Bandha. In simple terms it's your pelvic floor, but it's more than that - it's a subtle, continuous upward lift from the base of the pelvis.

Next is Uddiyana Bandha - the abdominal lock. Imagine gently drawing everything up underneath your bottom ribs.

Then we're pressing the hands into the mat (which is a challenge for those of us blessed with T-Rex arms πŸ˜‚), allowing the shoulders to follow that same downward energy.

Finally, Jalandhara Bandha... chin gently towards the chest.

And all of that... is happening at the same time.

For a while. 😳

Still with me? πŸ˜‚

Now imagine your mind as a beautiful room with an ornate throne in the middle.

Only one thing can truly sit on that throne at any given moment.

Too often it's occupied by worries, anxiety, anger or sadness. Those thoughts are loud. They shove their way to the front and take over, while the quieter, kinder thoughts barely get a chance.

But here's the interesting bit...

Your consciousness is like the big, burly bouncer standing at the door. (Why are bouncers always bald? πŸ˜‚)

He's holding the guest list saying, "If your name's not down, you're not coming in."

During Dandasana, your job is to keep all of those conscious engagement cues balanced on the throne at once. Toes. Quads. Pelvic floor. Core. Hands. Shoulders. Chin.

It's like a game of Buckaroo for your brain.

Every time one thought falls off, you calmly place it back.

And while you're concentrating on all of that... what happens to the anxious thoughts?

They might try to barge past the bouncer... but there's simply no room for them. Eventually they drift away.

The more we practise this, the stronger that "mind bouncer" becomes. We get better at choosing what deserves our attention instead of letting every negative thought take centre stage.

And the added bonus?

While you're training your mind, you're also building strength, stability and awareness throughout your body.

That's the philosophy behind my classes.

No fluff. No woo-woo.

Just relatable, mindful movement that strengthens both body and mind. ❀️πŸ’ͺπŸ‘‘πŸ™

I am so excited & feel blessed to be writing this... there's just ONE space left on our Morocco retreat. 🀍

This is the first ever Freedom Yoga Retreat after attending a fair few retreats myself & finding adventure in travel, I knew what I wanted it to look like but I did I wonder who's meant to be there. And without fail, the right people seem to have found their way.

If you've looked at the retreat before, saved the posts, or quietly thought, "I'd love to do something like that one day," maybe this is your nudge.

This retreat isn't about being good at yoga. It's about giving yourself permission to slow down. To breathe deeply, laugh lots, watch the sun set over the ocean, move your body because it feels good, and reconnect with yourself away from the demands of everyday life.

We'll be practising rooftop yoga overlooking the sea, eating beautiful food, exploring the laid-back surf town of Tamraght, with the option to try surfing if you fancy it. Most importantly, we'll create space to simply be.

If that final place has your name on it, I'd absolutely love to welcome you.

Send me a message if you're feeling the pull. Sometimes the best decisions are the ones that scare us just a little. 🀍

Reiki...what actually *is* it?

Simply put it's the channelling of energy.

We emit & receive energy all of the time and so does everything around us. This energy isn't just in our immediate environment, it envelopes our entire planet, our entire universe exists because of energy. And we have the ability to harness & focus that energy to a point of our choosing. The picture shows pretty much what I envisage when I give Reiki ❀️

Now obviously there are restrictions to this, not many of us can start a fire by staring intently (gosh! That would be chaos! 😳) but we can use this focused energy to heighten relaxation, serenity and because of this, create an environment within that is conducive to healing, both physically & emotionally.

So what happens when you receive Reiki from me?

You will lie, fully clothed with your eyes closed. You will have the option to be covered in a lightweight or weighted blanket and for a weighted eye mask to be placed over your eyes.

I will take a moment to bring myself into a completely relaxed state (almost like a meditative state) and then place my hands either over your body or lightly touching. I then harness & concentrate energy into my body and out through my hands into yours. I slowly move from the top to the bottom of your body. I often finish with a sound cleansing ritual using a Himalayan singing bowl.

So what will you feel during a Reiki session?

Lots of people fall instantly asleep - I love it when I hear little snores, it means I'm doing my job properly!

Some people feel like they're in an awake dreamlike state.

Some people feel heat or coldness is various parts of their body & some see colours & visions.

If you're intrigued by Reiki but want to feel a little more relaxed before you start, you can add a 30 minute session to the end of any massage from me.
