The Jill Stew School of Dance Official page for The Jill Stew School of Dance. Classes in Dance, Musical Theatre & Drama.

Created over 25 years ago by the founder of the school Jill Stew, the school has grown from one small class to now teaching over 300 pupils. Principals Miss Anna Henry and Miss Amy Churchill with additional members of staff are highly qualified in their specialist genre. Classes are held at Stone Steps, a beautiful blanket warehouse that has been lovingly converted into a modern dance centre with two fully equipped studios also offering changing facilities and cloakroom. Pupils are offered classes in Classical Ballet (Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus) from the age of three, Modern Dance, Tap Dancing (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance Syllabus) from the age of five, Contemporary Dance, Jazz Dance classes are also available. Drama classes (LAMDA) and Musical Theatre classes from seven years of age. In addition to children's classes we offer adult classes in Ballet and Tap. We are soon to be offering Diverse Dance Mix classes created by Darcey Bussell for those who would like a full body dance-based workout. All children are encouraged to work towards examinations although it is not compulsory. Pupils are entered for examinations at the discretion of the principals and their class teacher.

We are looking for a student to assist in our grade one classes on a Wednesday at 3:45 until 4:45 pm alongside Mrs Leslie-Spinks. This would be a regular commitment and starting with immediate effect.

Helping in the junior classes is really rewarding incredibly helpful and can go towards many challenges at secondary school such as baccalaureate programs and Duke of Edinburgh awards.

Any student within our school who feels they could give an hour of their time once a week to help in this junior class please do email us and be a part of our supportive dance family.

Studio memory……

13 years ago today former Westlife band member Brian McFadden, his then wife Vogue and choreographer Sisco came to our studios to rehearse for their final dances whilst competing in the ITV show ‘Stepping Out’.
They bought a film crew with them and rehearsed all day in our studios in Witney. Miss Churchill was then lucky enough to go to the ITV Studios on the night of the final with a very lucky Saturday student helper accompanying her to watch the show - I wonder if she remembers?! Caroline Dawn

Past pupil Ellis Linford-Pill will be ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ once more, this time in the UK tour!

We were thrilled when Ellis contacted us to say he is resident choreographer, dance captain and swing for the tour which starts in November - what a fantastic achievement! It is coming to Milton Keynes in March next year as well as High Wycombe in April and London in June where former Strictly Come Dancing professional Karen Hauer will be performing the role of Lina Lamont.

We are incredibly proud of Ellis’ continued success and look forward to seeing this production next year.
