An emotional Wilmslow Parkrun today as the running community came together to remember Andrew. Huge credit to our wonderful member Celia, who as run director, for giving this touching and beautiful tribute to him.

Andrew had a huge impact on the running community and many of our club members were fortunate enough to know him personally and were close to him. His passing is a tremendous loss, and we are all deeply saddened by the news.
Our thoughts are with Andrew’s family, friends and everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed, but his impact on our running community will be remembered for many years to come.

Welcome to our new feature, Club runner spot light. Every month we’ll highlight one of our brilliant runners and this month it’s Bev!
What first got you into running, and what made you stick with it?
I started running in 2019 but during Covid with a young family at home struggled to keep my routine going. After trying to get back into running I did the couch to 5k with the club in 2025. The greatest gift of joining the club was the amazingly supportive club members now friends who make showing up for runs such a joy.
What’s your favourite run or race memory so far?
Halifax Urban trail, the first UK urban trail. It was a great way to see the town and it was really exciting running through the Piece Hall and Shibden Hall, and Halifax Minster, where they were playing “Eye of the Tiger on the organ”
How has being part of the club helped you as a runner?
I rarely run by myself, I found the most supportive club of like minded people and there’s a run virtually everyday of the week in all seasons and all variety from speed training to trail to join in with. Just show up and have fun.
What’s one tip you’d give to someone just starting out?
Just put your trainers on and show up consistently. We’ve all been at the start of fitness or returning from injury so we get how hard it is to get going again.
What’s your next big running goal?
Sub 1 hour officially doing a 10km. I should probably book a flat 10km somewhere in the near future 💫

Half way through 2026. We’ve gone from a small friendly running club to a huge friendly running club 🧡 🧡🧡 From couch to 5k to competitive marathons - let’s see what the next half of 2026 brings 💫
Summer racing and training is in full swing at SRC. excellent summer 10k and Alderley Edge trail race were enjoyed by many of our members. Some great PBs at 5k,10k and 5 miles as members work towards their club standards! Keep going everyone! 💪
One week one our runners have recovered from Leeds. We always have a great weekend and this year fielded 4 teams. Jason doing a solo and once again he broke the 100 mile barrier 💪 Great running everybody!

On Thursday night it was the return of this year’s Sale Sizzlers. An uber fast 5k always popular with our members.
Well done to all our runners Quarry Bank Mill Trail race. This race which is on our door step is popular with many members of the club. Well done to everyone who raced!
