A huge 'Well Done' to everyone involved in building this amazing new viewing platofrm at Lindow Moss.👏🏼⚒️
It provides a fantastic spot to take in the views and stand right where Lindow Man was discovered. He is the most intact and famous bog body ever discovered in Britain and died around 2,000 years ago, placing him in the late Iron Age or early Roman period.🌿👀
It’s looking fantastic and we can’t wait to see the final timeline boards go up!✨

Everyone at Groundwork was delighted to hear that Friends of Tawd Valley has achieved Gold Award Accreditation as part of The Wild Trout Trust's Trout in the Town project! 🏆🐟
This award is well-deserved recognition for their tireless work, passion and the amazing impact the group has had in transforming their local river. 🌿🌊
A special shout-out to our very own Sam Phillips and Samuel Gibson, who provided vital support back when the Rangers were first setting up the group - delivering Riverfly kick sampling training and hands-on advice for volunteers. 🧪🪨
Huge congratulations to all involved! You should be incredibly proud of everything you’ve achieved so far. 👏🎉
🎉 Huge News for the River Tawd! 🎉
We are thrilled to announce that Friends of Tawd Valley has been awarded Gold Award Accreditation as part of The Wild Trout Trust’s Trout in the Town project! 🏆🐟
This milestone recognizes the incredible transformation of our local river. Most exciting of all has been the exceptional feat of re-establishing a wild breeding population of brown trout through the removal of Cobb's Clough weir, which in turn helped to aid natural recolonisation - a true testament to what nature can do when given a helping hand.
This achievement reflects countless hours of dedication on the ground (and in the water!), including:
🪨 Riverfly kick sampling to monitor river health
🧪 Regular water quality testing
🧹 River clean-ups
🌿 Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) removal to protect native habitats
🐟 ...and so much more!!!
The River Tawd have come a long way since our first advisory visit report with the Wild Trout Trust, all them years ago.
This wouldn’t have been possible without strong community teamwork. A massive thank you to the Wild Trout Trust, the West Lancs Parks and Countryside Rangers, West Lancashire Borough Council (WLBC), Ribble Rivers Trust and every single one of our incredible volunteers who put on their wellies and got stuck in.
The work doesn't stop there though - We have to maintain this momentum and keep going to continue improving the River Tawd for both the community and wildlife. 💪
Thank you for helping our river thrive! 💙🌊
