πŸ€ BASKETBALL AT LITTLE LEAPS! πŸ€

This Saturday we had lots of fun developing our basketball skills!

We started with some box jumps to get warmed up and work on our balance, coordination and leg strength.

Then it was time for the basketballs! We practised:
πŸ€ Dribbling
πŸ€ Throwing & catching
πŸ€ Bounce passes
πŸ€ Hand-eye coordination

We then played Pinch the Treasure πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈπŸ’° Games like this encourage children to run, change direction, react quickly and work together, all while having loads of fun.

We finished with some parachute fun and stretches before heading home.

Why is regular organised sport so important for young children?

Taking part in regular sport helps children develop much more than physical skills. It can support:

πŸ’ͺ Physical development – balance, coordination, strength, agility and fundamental movement skills.

🧠 Confidence & independence – learning

Behind the sessions at Little Leaps Sports!

Here’s a couple of examples of our session plans we use across our nursery, school and Saturday sessions.

We use short bursts of different games to keep young children engaged, active and having fun! Each activity has a purpose, helping develop skills such as:

⚽ Coordination & ball control
πŸƒ Balance, agility & movement
🧠 Listening, reactions & decision-making
🀝 Confidence & social skills
🌈 Learning through play

For us, it’s not just about teaching sport β€” it’s about helping children develop through sport.

🎾 THIS WEEK AT LITTLE LEAPS!🎾

This week, our Little Leapers enjoyed a fun-filled session exploring tennis!

We started with balloons before progressing to foam balls and, finally, tennis balls. This gradual progression helped the children build confidence and develop their:

βœ… Hand-eye coordination
βœ… Balance and body control
βœ… Fine and gross motor skills
βœ… Concentration and patience

Reaction Lights.

We then put our reactions to the test! The children had to spot the different-coloured light and touch it as quickly as they could.

This is a fantastic way to develop reaction speed, visual tracking, decision-making and listening skills, all while keeping the children active and engaged!

Then we stretched out with some Yoga!

We finished our session with some yoga, helping the children work on flexibility, balance, body awareness and relaxation.

🌟 OUR FIRST SPONSORED SESSION! 🌟

We are absolutely delighted that this week's session was our first-ever sponsored Little Leaps session! πŸ₯³

A HUGE thank you to Marnie from Small Business SOS for sponsoring our session and making it possible for the children who attended to enjoy it completely FREE!

Your support helps us make sport and physical activity more accessible to young children in our local community.

Thank you for helping us make a difference!
