A truly special way to kick off a hen party!

This weekend I had the joy of leading a beautiful pop-up woodland yoga session for a wonderful bride-to-be and her closest friends.

Surrounded by the calming embrace of the trees, we took time to pause, breathe and ground ourselves before the excitement of the wedding celebrations begins. Nature provided the perfect setting to step away from the busyness of planning and create space for laughter, connection and joy.

Our practice was playful and light-hearted, with plenty of smiles, moments of mindfulness and open-hearted movement. Together we set intentions, celebrated friendship and opened our hearts to welcome this exciting new chapter of marriage.

There’s something so magical about practising yoga outdoors, feeling the earth beneath your feet, listening to birdsong and allowing the woodland to remind us to slow down and simply be.

Thank you to this lovely group for allowing me to be part of such a meaningful celebration. Wishing the happy couple a lifetime of love, laughter and adventure. 💚

If you’re looking for a unique hen party activity, I’d love to create a bespoke outdoor yoga experience that is fun, relaxing and memorable.

As we move through the height of summer, we’re surrounded by an abundance of light, warmth and energy. The longer days often encourage us to fill every moment with activity, but this season also reminds us of the importance of balance.

This week in our pop-up yoga sessions, we’re slowing things down. Taking a gentler pace allows us to reconnect with ourselves, restore our energy and avoid the burnout that can come from constantly being on the go.

We’ll also be exploring Lotus Mudra. The lotus flower grows through muddy waters before emerging into a beautiful bloom. It reminds us that even when life feels challenging or uncertain, we have the ability to rise above what holds us back, grow through our experiences, and reach our full potential. 🌸

Take this as your invitation to pause, breathe deeply, and trust your own journey. Sometimes the greatest growth happens when we slow down enough to notice it.

I can’t wait to share this beautiful practice with you this week. 💛

It’s yoga tradition to practice 108 sun salutations. This morning we got just a few of those done in my class at Fitness First. We also practiced a cooling breath to balance the heat and reflected on the year so far and what we want to use our abundant energies for in the rest of the year.
We’ll be dipping into this tomorrow in Highfield at 10 am.

Why doing a mix of exercise could be the key to longer life 31/01/2026

Doing a mix of exercises is good for you.

I completely agree. Mixing up different types of exercise really is the key to keeping fit. Yoga will always have my heart, but over the past year I’ve learned just how powerful variety can be.

I joined a gym around 10 months ago, slightly sceptical after past memberships where I paid monthly and rarely went. This time has been different. I’d heard that women of my age (Gen X 🙋‍♀️) really benefit from strength training, and although it sounded intimidating, I gave it a go. Starting with light weights in a Body Pump class, I slowly built confidence, strength, and consistency. I’ve since added Body Combat, Pilates, cardio tennis, and even tried padel, all while improving my cardio fitness and having a lot of fun along the way.

Alongside this, yoga remains my anchor. It grounds me, stretches out tired muscles, keeps me flexible (hello deeper squats!), calms my mind and breath, and gives me the confidence to keep moving, exploring, and feeling strong in my body. Daily dog walks in muddy woods help too. Fresh air, vitamin D, and plenty of steps 🐾

I honestly don’t think I’ve ever felt fitter or more balanced. Yoga has supported everything else I do and continues to support me, mentally and physically. It’s reassuring to know I’m doing the right things for my future self… and enjoying the journey along the way.

This is exactly the energy I bring to my pop-up yoga sessions
Accessible, grounding, supportive yoga for real bodies and real lives.🧘‍♀️

Come along and try for yourself. Your future self may just thank you.

Why doing a mix of exercise could be the key to longer life Don't just focus on one activity - doing a variety every week gives you more health benefits, a study suggests.

Yoga Story 3 – Linda’s Journey

From her early days in the world of fitness and aerobics to discovering yoga over 20 years ago, Linda’s journey is a beautiful reminder that movement evolves with us.

After years of teaching and leading workouts, she found yoga, and fell in love with the deeper stretches and flexibility it offers. Now, at 65, a proud mum and grandma, Linda continues to explore her practice, moving mindfully and always listening to her body.

Yoga isn’t about how far you can go, it’s about discovering what feels right for you, today.

At Pop Up Yoga, we celebrate that approach. Each class invites you to explore postures, breathe deeply, and work at your own pace and level. There’s no rush, no comparison, just the ongoing journey of yoga, one breath and one posture at a time.

This is Joyce. And she recently qualified as a yoga instructor.

Yes, you read that correctly and this is another truly inspiring yoga story from one of my lovely yoga students, that tells us that :

You’re Never Too Old to Take On a New Challenge

Joyce will be 74 in January and has been practising yoga for nearly 24 years. This May, she achieved something incredible, she qualified as a 200-hour yoga teacher!

In the past, she’d shared yoga with friends and even taught via FaceTime during lockdown to support someone who was shielding. For years, she’d thought about becoming a qualified teacher, and this year, she finally decided to make it happen.

She found an online course that allowed her to study at her own pace, planning to complete it in five months. But she became so absorbed that she finished in just ten weeks!

Even with her years of experience on the mat, she loved learning more about anatomy, philosophy, history, pranayama, and how to cue and structure classes. She said it deepened her understanding of yoga in ways she hadn’t expected.

She told me she can’t imagine life without yoga, it keeps her flexible, strong, calm, and connected. Practising regularly with a supportive teacher and a friendly group brings her so much joy.

And I couldn’t agree more with her final message:
👉 You’re never too old to take up yoga.
👉 You’re never too old to take on a new challenge.
👉 And you’re never too old to follow your passion.

Whatever age or stage you’re at, it’s never too late to start.

Come and join us for a class and see what yoga can do for you.

Anne is 88.

Yes, you read that right! Anne has been a regular at my Highfield class for over six years, and in all that time, she’s never shied away from trying any posture.

Anne first came along after I gave a talk at the Women’s Fellowship about how to help avoid trips and falls, something very close to my heart after losing my Grandma to complications following a fall. Anne wanted to strengthen herself and safeguard against what can often be life-changing effects of a simple trip.

She’d actually practiced yoga back in the 1970s, but when her class in Rainford closed, she let her practice go. Coming back to yoga after all those years, she says it’s helped her become more flexible, improved her balance, and is helping her maintain her independence for as long as possible.

But it’s not just the physical benefits she enjoys, Anne has also made many new friends. Our class is super friendly and inclusive, and she never feels any pressure to do anything outside her comfort zone (though she’s always encouraged to give things a go!).

I might be biased, but I think yoga is powerful for people of all ages and abilities. I always say yoga isn’t about “perfect Instagram poses”… but honestly, Anne’s tree pose would go viral

It’s such a joy to teach Anne and everyone who comes along each week. Seeing the benefits people gain from their regular yoga practice is incredibly rewarding.

If you’d like to feel the same benefits, and be as fit and agile as Anne at 88, why not come and give it a try?

You’ll get a warm welcome, and there’s absolutely no pressure to do anything you’re not comfortable with.
