πŸ’š You don't need a big club to make a big difference πŸ’š

To have Clive Morgan recognised as Grounds Person of the Year in 2024, and now Nathan Twiss winning a Cricket Collective Award this Friday as Coach of the Year, says far more than just two individuals receiving well-deserved recognition. It speaks volumes about the people, values and community spirit that sit at the heart of our club.

For a small, volunteer-led club, these awards are a reminder that success isn't measured by the size of your facilities, budget or membership. It's measured by the dedication of the people who give their time, energy and passion to create opportunities for others.

Clive's award recognised the countless hours and care he puts into preparing and maintaining the ground, often behind the scenes and without fanfare. Nathan's award is recognition of his commitment, enthusiasm and the difference he continues to make for the club and its future. Both have played a huge part in helping Goose Green grow and thrive.

To see two Cricket Collective Award winners come from such a small club is something we should all be incredibly proud of. It highlights what can be achieved when good people come together, support one another and work towards a shared goal.

These awards may have individual names attached to them, but they are also a reflection of everyone who volunteers, plays, coaches, supports, sponsors and cheers from the boundary. They show that even the smallest clubs can make a big impact.

Congratulations to both Clive and Nathan. You are a credit to Goose Green Cricket Club, and your achievements are an inspiration to everyone involved with the club.

Congratulations to Nathan Twiss on receiving his Cricket Collective Coach of the Year Award at Old Trafford!

At just 26 years old, Nathan has played a huge role in shaping the future of Goose Green Cricket Club.

In the club's 40-year history, we had never managed to establish a junior section. Without young players coming through, the long-term future of the club was uncertain. When we set out to create our first-ever junior team, Nathan immediately stepped forward with another player to help make it happen.

Driven purely by his passion for cricket and his desire to give young people a place to belong, Nathan has dedicated countless hours to coaching, mentoring and supporting our young players. Despite having no children of his own involved, he has shown incredible commitment, arriving early, staying late and ensuring every child receives encouragement, guidance and the opportunity to develop both on and off the field.

Nathan's knowledge, patience and enthusiasm have been instrumental in building a thriving junior section. He has not only helped young cricketers improve their skills and confidence but has also helped create a welcoming community for families at the club.

The impact of his work can already be seen in the enthusiasm of the children, the support of parents and the renewed optimism about the future of Goose Green.

This award is recognition of everything Nathan stands for: dedication, selflessness, leadership and a genuine love of helping others enjoy the game.

We're incredibly proud to see Nathan recognised at such an iconic venue and grateful for everything he continues to do for Goose Green Cricket Club.

πŸ‘ Congratulations Nathan, a very worthy winner!
