Evening all. Hope you’ve all enjoyed the summer.
Now the horse flies have virtually disappeared me and Lil have been able to hack out a bit more without the hysteria of a mare who thinks her life is ending when a fly lands 🤦♀️ M has at last got his new hip and all is going to plan 🤞 so hopefully he’ll be back on board big Gwen before Christmas and we can do his and hers hacking 😁 Meanwhile we have been babysitting Lauren and Nova a couple of times while he is getting back into work after his hurt and Lil bravely led the way the first time and cajoled Nova along from behind the second time which he thought was a bit off as he’d much rather follow her and wonder in awe of her beauty 😆
Madam has decided that she’s happy to go out on her own now without too much muttering though today she was feeling very crotchety but she dug deep and once we got going she was fab. Actually she was more than fab 🥰
I took her to lunge on the hill in River Meadow on Saturday which she wasn’t too thrilled about but soon settled and worked very well. Sunday I decided to take her into the hill field (in hand as she’d never been up to the top before and I’m a whimp 🫣) Elsie came as chaperone and we had a great time walking up and down the hill (several times) and seeing lots of lovely new sights (it’s getting me fit too 🥵😳) and on the way home she lunged over a few XC jumps, she was a bit clumsy to start with but jumped really nicely once she figured out where her legs were. Monday I decided to ride and go for a short hack and wondered whether we could do a few of the jumps ridden 🤔 Just a couple of the small rails 🤔 Success 😃 It didn’t actually occur to me that she wouldn’t jump but I did wonder if she would get a bit giddy on landing so the neck strap was employed just in case, but she was so so good. Today, as I said, she was crotchety but we ventured a short way into the wood on our own and had a chat with a lovely couple with their Boxer dog before trying a few of the other jumps on the way home including one of the ditches. We trotted in and departed each jump in a lovely balanced canter 🥹 I bottled it at the tyres 😖 and decided that’s for next time but I am so thrilled with her attitude and behaviour. 🤞 we’ve turned a corner. I was worried that she would be scared and hollow and leap with her eyes closed but she actually has a lovely jump and feels pretty relaxed with it all so it’s onwards and upwards and hopefully a settled and fun future.
Anyway, thank you for reading the ramblings of an old lady and enjoy what’s left of summer. 💖💖
Poor things. Only 12 acres of grass between them so they have to eat trees to survive 🤦♀️😂
Had a lovely visit, coffee and catch-up from Dawn today 😁 We’ve seen her occasionally when she drives past after going to see Blue and Scarlet but not had a chance for a chat. She filled us in on the antics of a few of our lovely past riders who she now teaches at Burrows Lane 👍 I don’t think any of you can truly escape us so keep up the good work 🐴🐴🦄🦄
Apparently they’re proud of this 🤨
Think we need to do a little bit of hedge trimming or Lauren needs to get a smaller horse 🐴😂
