Origin of “Mews”: 🏠A row or courtyard of stables and coach houses with living quarters above them, for the coachmen and stable-servants at grand houses are often called Mews. They originally housed falcons used for royal hunting during their cyclic feather-moulting phase, know as mewing.

Horses can help to improve physical and mental wellness for many people.
This week is
Carriage driving is a very inclusive way to enjoy horses. The RDA group at Valley Farm supports people with a range of different needs.
Yesterday we met a lovely group of cyclists while out for a drive. It was so lovely to be out enjoying the countryside together.

We provide educational farm visits for schools and youth groups, packed with fun facts about animals, nature, and the countryside.
🕒 What to expect
Visits last around 2 hours and include guided walks through our established and newly planted woodlands. Valley Farm sits on the River Deben floodplain, making it a haven for wildlife such as:
🦢 Swans, Geese & Egrets | 🦉 Owls | 🦌 Deer | 🐇 Hares & Rabbits | 🦊 Foxes | Great for bird spotting and minibeast hunting.

🏵️ABRS Rosette Awards are a fantastic way to recognize achievements and mark milestones in equestrian training and development.
🎖️The awards provide a structured way to encourage learning and build confidence, while rewarding progress. Small targets help learners of all ages focus on achievable goals. Regular rewards keep enthusiasm high throughout the learning process.
32 Awards in Total:
18 for Stable Management focusing on essential horse care skills, covering everything from hoof care to nutrition.
14 For riding skills emphasizing technique, control, and confidence in the saddle.

Learners can work towards the awards during group lessons or private lessons. Ask you coach how to get started or ask in reception when you next ride.

Riding slots are available this week. Whether beginning, regular rider or looking to get back into riding, everyone from children from 2 years to adults of any age is welcome. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 3:30pm, 4:00pm, or 4:30pm. Individual or shared sessions available.
