After more than 20 years, it is with a heavy heart that we announce that Whitland Ladies Rugby Club will not be competing in the upcoming season.

What an incredible journey it has been. Over the years, the club has been so fortunate to have had the support, dedication and commitment of so many amazing players, past and present, managers, coaches and volunteers.

To every single person who has played, managed, coached, supported, encouraged and helped the ladies along the way, thank you. Your contribution has been a huge part of the club’s story and the successes we have enjoyed over the years.

There have been countless memories, friendships, challenges and achievements, and we are incredibly proud of everything Whitland Ladies has accomplished.

Although this may be the end for now, the memories and friendships made over the past 20+ years will never be forgotten.

Here is what Tom has to say about joining the Whitland Ladies.

“I bring over 15 years of rugby experience, including time on the WRU refereeing pathway and national panel, as well as coaching experience across junior and girls’ rugby. Having always enjoyed visiting Whitland as a referee, I am thrilled to now be working with the club and supporting the next stage of its women’s rugby journey.
My focus will be on helping build a hard-working, attacking team that never goes away — one built on confidence, development, belonging and team-first standards.
I am passionate about creating a positive environment where players feel supported, challenged and proud to represent Whitland, while helping the team recruit, retain, develop and make a real difference on and off the field.

Amber is already a well known personality amongst the team, a former player, friend and big personality in the team for numerous years.

Here is what Amber had to say about her new opportunity:

“I'm really excited for the upcoming rugby season in my new role as the Whitland Ladies team manager. I've been lucky to have played rugby in a several countries and have experienced a few rugby cultures. I will do my best to ensure that we have a proud, healthy and welcoming women's team. Rugby has played a significant role in my life, and I want to make sure the next generation has the same opportunities.”

Our head coach Dafydd Cox is also taking a step back from Whitland Ladies after the 2026 season. Daf has been coaching in Whitland RFC since 2016! Some of our girls have grown up with Daf being their coach since they were playing for the juniors. It’s going to be very tough to replace a coach who has given absolutely everything to the team.

Daf, thank you for every training session, every match, every pep talk, and every moment you believed in us, even when we didn’t believe in ourselves. You’ve been more than just a coach — you’ve been a mentor, a role model, and a huge part of this team’s family. The impact you’ve had on all of us will stay far beyond the game itself. We’re going to miss you massively, but we’re so grateful for everything you’ve given us over the last 10 years. Thank you for everything, coach.

As the season draws to a close, Suzanne Davies has made the decision to take a step back from the team manager role. Suzanne has been running Whitland ladies since 2004!!

After 22 years of dedication, support, and countless hours behind the scenes, her impact on this team goes far beyond words. She’s been a role model to so many of the girls and, to many of us, like a second mother — always there with support, advice, and encouragement no matter what. She’s been the heart of this club through every season, and her kindness, loyalty, and commitment will never be forgotten. Wishing her a retirement as special as the legacy she leaves behind. I’m sure many of us wouldn’t recognise Whitland ladies for the successful team that they are without Suzanne. From the girls in green, we can’t thank you enough for everything you have done for the Whitland Ladies. 💚❤️💚

Whitland Ladies Presentation 🏆💚
What a brilliant season the ladies have had winning some games by large margins and beating top teams in the area. Unfortunately some long term injuries to a few of our players ment we had to finish the season slightly earlier then usual. However yesterday was all about recognising the hard work and talent that has been given by the players this season.
