Congratulations to Lynda Blair on winning the most recent last man standing competition and bagging herself the £670 jackpot!
Lynda watched her pick, Man City, win their match to take the glory while the rest of her family were still sulking over another football match earlier on Sunday. 👀

🏆 Captain's Prize 🏆

Today was our annual Captain's Prize day and a huge thanks to Captain Gus for his hospitality and generosity. A relaxed stableford from the front tees saw 20 players take to the course to enjoy a rather pleasant morning.

Jenny Jenkins continued her recent good form and won the Ladies event while Dave Morrison carded the best score of the day to lift the trophy.

Well done to all who took part and thanks again to the captain ✨

Behold Graeme Crichton, captured here in portrait form. This painting was commissioned after Graeme (known locally as ‘Graeme’) left the competition in his wake with a mind-bending net 8-under at yesterday’s Summer Trophy.

A student of the game, contemplating not just the flight path of a 9-iron, but the very physics of the fairways. A deep thinker who doesn't just play the course; he dissects it. All that philosophical intensity clearly paid off yesterday. He didn't just win. He dominated. An utterly incredible, utterly unexpected score.

Ladies and Gents, a big round of applause for your 2026 Taylor Trophy Greensome winners, Graeme 'Graeme' Crichton and Steve Vassell.

Very much a Poundland Hale and Pace, Graeme and Steve demolished the competition through a combination of very solid golf and very shaky understanding of the rules.

The Temu Statler and Waldorf came home 3 points clear of their nearest rivals making full use of very questionable handicaps.

Everyone at the club agreed they were deserved winners and we wish them luck.

☀️ SUMMER TROPHY 🏆

A great day of weather saw 24 players take to the course to enjoy the sunshine and a golf course in fantastic condition.

Recently crowned Club Champion Ryan Armstrong once again worked his magic coming home level par, but that was only enough for a second place finish behind the Modfather himself, Davie Blair.

1. Davie Blair 72 - 12 = 60
2. Ryan Armstrong 63 - 3 = 60 (lowest gross)
3. Neil 'Sonic' Lucas 74 - 11 = 63 (highest invoice)
4. David Morrison 76 - 13 = 63 (thickest hair)

Todays winner of the Ladies Glenashdale Stableford is the lady who puts the Jen in Jenkins, Jenny Jenkins with a solid 32 points.

Glorious conditions today at Royal Whiting Bay, and a good turnout for the competition.

Shiskine Golf Club hosted the final of the Arran Ladies Island Championship yesterday, featuring a closely contested match between Ann May and Val Crawford.

Both golfers brought great experience to the course, but Val delivered an exceptional performance, highlighted by four superb birdies at the 5th, 8th, 10th and 11th holes. She secured a 5‑and‑4 victory to successfully retain the Championship title.

Ann and Val expressed their thanks to their caddies, Susan Butchard and Sheena Murchie, referee Lynda Blair, and all the wonderful ladies who came out to support the final.

Due to a lack of dignitaries, clubhouse supremo Dave presented the trophy. From left to right, Richard Blair, Dave, Lynda Blair and Paul Weller. Team member Gordon was unavailable for the photo due to a sore back from carrying the rest of them.
