Thursday 24th September

Chesil is looking calm and settled today, with a light easterly and south easterly breeze throughout.

The wind starts E at around 8 mph this morning, then turns ESE and SE at around 9 to 10 mph through late morning and lunchtime.

Through the afternoon it remains mainly SE and SSE at around 9 to 10 mph, with gusts only reaching around 10 to 12 mph.

The breeze gradually eases into the evening, dropping to around 6 to 8 mph later tonight.

With winds staying this light, there should be very little wind driven movement on Chesil today.

It stays completely dry throughout.

Cloud is heavy for much of the morning and afternoon, although it should break up considerably during the evening.

Temperatures rise from 14°C this morning to around 20°C through lunchtime and the afternoon, before dropping back to around 14°C tonight.

Pressure remains high, starting around 1025 mb and gradually easing to around 1021 mb.

The Chesil buoy feed shows observations continuing through 23:30 last night, although the latest detailed individual reading I can verify is from yesterday morning. That reading showed a significant wave height of 1.1 ft, a peak period of 15.4 seconds, SSE wave direction and a sea temperature of 18.5°C.

That points to a relatively small sea, although the longer period shows there has been some residual swell energy present. With today’s light SE winds, the live we**am is the best way to see exactly what is reaching the beach this morning.

Wednesday 23rd September

Chesil is looking dry, bright and fairly settled today, with a moderate north west breeze gradually easing through the afternoon.

The wind starts NW at around 14 mph at 10am, with gusts reaching 18 mph. It eases to around 10 mph by 11am before turning WNW through lunchtime.

Through the afternoon winds remain around 10 to 12 mph, before gradually easing to around 9 mph by early evening.

Later tonight the breeze turns NNW, N and eventually NNE, generally remaining around 9 to 10 mph.

It stays completely dry throughout the day.

There is plenty of sunshine this morning, although cloud increases sharply around lunchtime. Brighter spells return during the afternoon before cloud builds again this evening.

Temperatures rise from 18°C at 10am to around 22°C through the early afternoon, before gradually dropping to around 12°C tonight.

Pressure remains high and extremely steady around 1025 to 1027 mb.

Tuesday 22nd September

Chesil is looking very calm and settled today, with almost no wind through the entire day.

The wind starts NE at only 2 mph at 10am, then turns SE and S through lunchtime at just 1 to 3 mph.

Through the afternoon it becomes SSW but remains around only 2 to 3 mph.

By this evening the breeze drops away almost completely, with 0 to 1 mph showing around 9pm and 10pm.

With winds this light, there should be very little wind driven movement on Chesil today.

It stays completely dry throughout the forecast.

Skies are clear this morning with plenty of sunshine. There is some variable cloud around lunchtime, but it clears considerably again through the afternoon and evening.

Temperatures rise from 19°C at 10am to around 22°C through lunchtime, remaining around 21°C during the afternoon before dropping to around 15°C tonight.

Pressure remains very high, starting around 1030 mb before gradually easing to 1027 mb later.

Monday 21 September

Chesil is looking very settled this morning, with light winds and a calm sea compared with the livelier conditions we have seen recently.

The wind is almost flat calm this morning, starting WSW at just 1 to 3 mph.

Through lunchtime the wind turns westerly and gradually increases, reaching around 6 to 7 mph from midday through the afternoon. It remains light into the evening before turning WNW and NW later tonight at around 5 to 6 mph.

There is no rain forecast today, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures reaching around 21 to 22°C this afternoon.

Overall, conditions should remain very manageable throughout the day, with only a light westerly breeze and no significant increase in wind expected.

Chesil is looking fairly settled today, with a moderate north west breeze this morning gradually easing as we head through the afternoon and evening.

The wind starts WNW at around 14 mph at 9am, with gusts reaching 20 mph. It then turns NW and gradually drops through the morning, reaching around 8 to 10 mph by early afternoon.

Through the later afternoon the breeze becomes WNW and W at around 6 to 8 mph before easing further this evening.

By 9pm the wind drops to just 3 mph, turning northerly later tonight.

The forecast you have supplied stays completely dry throughout the day.

Cloud is heavy this morning before breaking up somewhat around lunchtime. Conditions remain variable through the afternoon, with some brighter spells developing later.

Saturday 19th September

Chesil is looking like a breezy and lively day, with a fresh WSW wind staying with us through most of the afternoon before gradually easing later this evening.

From late morning the WSW wind is around 17 to 18 mph, but gusts are considerably stronger at around 34 to 36 mph. The wind remains fairly steady through the afternoon before slowly dropping back through the evening.

There is already a decent amount of movement in the water. The Chesil wave buoy recorded a significant wave height of around 5.1 ft at 7am, with the waves coming from the southwest.

Temperatures sit around 18 to 19°C through the day. It is generally cloudy, with a small chance of rain through the afternoon increasing a little during the evening.

Chesil is looking breezy today, becoming much livelier through the afternoon and evening, with the wind strengthening from the west before turning WSW.

The wind starts W at around 14 mph this morning, with gusts reaching 18 mph. Through lunchtime it turns WSW and gradually increases.

From around 2pm the wind picks up noticeably, reaching 22 to 23 mph, with gusts climbing towards 25 mph. Through the late afternoon and evening the WSW wind remains around 22 to 23 mph, with gusts eventually reaching 29 to 30 mph.

That should keep a good amount of movement in the sea later today, particularly through the afternoon and evening.

It stays dry throughout the forecast you have supplied. Cloud is fairly variable this morning before becoming much heavier from early afternoon onwards.

Chesil is looking breezy but improving today, with a fresh westerly wind this morning gradually easing through the evening.

The wind starts W at around 20 mph at 10am, with gusts reaching 25 mph. It then turns WNW and stays between 18 and 22 mph through the afternoon, with gusts generally around 22 to 24 mph.

The strongest average wind is around 4pm at 22 mph. From there it gradually eases, dropping to around 14 to 15 mph later this evening.

There should still be a good amount of movement on Chesil through the daytime, particularly around the morning high and into the afternoon.

There is just a small amount of rain showing around 10am, then it remains dry. Cloud breaks considerably through late morning and early afternoon before becoming heavier again later.

Temperatures rise from 17°C this morning to around 19°C through the middle of the day, before dropping quickly to around 11°C tonight.

Pressure slowly rises from around 1012 mb to 1015 mb.
