The eagerly anticipated annual preseason fixture between Aylesbury Women and Chesham Ladies lived up to the expectations with a close fought match.
The women in Magenta & Black were looking to start their second season at NC2 with a bang against the experienced and talented Chesham side and the action wasn’t long in coming!
Some fluid back line play saw Abie take the ball at pace on the wing from some fantastic link work from ho**er Darcey, breaking tackles and scoring the opening points. Receiving the kick off, new signing Lou decided it was her time to acquaint herself with the Chesham defence, dancing and smashing through every gap she could find to run the ball in for a fantastic try which was converted by Clara.
Ever a threat, Chesham came back strong, scoring twice themselves ahead of the half with just the conversion separating the teams.
After the break, Chesham came out with another gear, scoring early before slick hands and a clean pair of heels from wing Louisa saw her cross the line on her Senior rugby debut. The last word went to Chesham whose unrelenting attack scored the final points seeing the game finish 17-25.
Forward of the match was awarded to Lou who seemed to be everywhere at once, smashing tackles in and carrying hard at every opportunity.
Back of the match went to our silent assassin A who just seems to appear with ball in hand anytime there is a gap in the defence to exploit and tackles like a steam train in defence.
Confidence is high in the squad looking forward to a successful league campaign and we wish Chesham every success with their season.
