Yoga With Alice D

Yoga With Alice D Inclusive, dynamic and relaxing yoga embracing the strength of being a woman at every life stage Welcome to the Yoga With Alice D. Are you scared of yoga?

Do you feel you won’t be able to do it ‘properly’ or all the other ladies will be younger and more flexible and you will feel out of place? My classes are VERY DIFFERENT from ‘drop in’ gym classes. I absolutely do not care what age you are; what shape you might be; how fit you are; or if you have any yoga experience. My women’s classes focus on sensation over form - how does each pose feel? We are all blessed with our own unique bodies and so everyone’s individual practice will be beautifully different - it is about your own self-care journey. YogaBellies® sessions incorporate a range of yogic and holistic techniques which create a unique experience for our clients. Our sessions incorporate traditional yoga asanas (postures), self-hypnosis and deep relaxation. YogaBellies® classes are entirely unique and our class formula means that 86% of our class attendees have never set foot in a yoga class before. We make sure our classes are non-scary, non-threatening, welcoming and open to all levels of practitioner. We believe that yoga is accessible to everyone. I am delighted to offer:
YogaBellies for Pregnancy
YogaBellies for Fertility
YogaBellies for Mum & Baby
Nurture by YogaBellies (Baby Massage)
YogaBellies for Women

WHAT OUR CLASSES CREATE BEYOND YOGA ✨
Yes, we move, breathe, stretch and rest—but these classes have always been about so much more than the yoga.
They’re about friendship. Support. Connection. And feeling held through all the different chapters of your life.
When you come to class, you can arrive quietly, settle onto your mat and remain completely within your own beautiful, private circle. You never have to talk, explain or share anything. You can simply take what you need and disappear gently back into your week.
Or you can come and tell me your entire life story.
You can tell me how your week has really been. We can celebrate the wonderful moments, talk through the difficult ones and gradually get to know one another as our lives unfold over the months—and sometimes the years—we spend together.
Both ways of being are equally welcome.
Because what we create in these classes goes far beyond the poses. It’s a space where friendships begin, where support is quietly offered and where you can feel seen without ever being asked to be anything other than yourself.
Come for the yoga. Stay for whatever else you discover there 🤍

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BELIEVE IN THE MOON 🌑🌕
You don’t have to believe that the Moon affects your mood, your energy or your body to find the lunar cycle useful.
Sometimes, we simply need something that reminds us to pause.
The new moon and full moon arrive roughly two weeks apart, creating two natural markers within every month—two opportunities to check in with ourselves before another few weeks disappear into everyday life.
🌑 The new moon can be a time for intention.
A moment to ask:
What would I like to begin?
How would I like to feel this month?
What needs more of my attention?
What is one realistic intention I can carry forward?
This doesn’t need to involve an enormous goal or a complete reinvention of yourself. Your intention might be to protect one quiet evening, move your body more regularly, speak to yourself more kindly or ask for the support you need.
Then, around two weeks later…
🌕 The full moon can become a time for reflection and release.
A moment to ask:
What has shifted since the new moon?
Am I giving my attention to what matters?
What is working well?
What feels heavy or unnecessary?
Is there anything I am ready to release?
Sometimes we set an intention and life moves in a completely different direction. The full moon offers a chance to notice that without judgement—to adjust, recommit or let something go.
And if the language of intentions, energy and release doesn’t resonate with you, you can make it even simpler:
🌑 New moon: What do I want to focus on?
🌕 Full moon: How is it going?
That’s it.
Two check-in points each month.
Because so often, we begin a month with ideas about what we need, only to become swept up in appointments, work, school runs, caring responsibilities and everyone else’s priorities.
Before we know it, another month has passed without us asking how we actually are.
The Moon doesn’t have to control anything.
It can simply be the reminder.
A visible, recurring prompt to look up, pause and come back to yourself.
You don’t have to be “into the Moon” to borrow its rhythm. 🌕✨

20 MINUTES OF MOVEMENT STILL COUNTS ✨
When you come to Pregnancy Yoga or Mum & Baby Yoga, the whole class isn’t spent moving—and that is intentional.
We make space for breathing practices, discussions, relaxation, connecting with one another and bonding with baby. But within all of that, we still achieve at least 20 minutes of meaningful physical movement.
And recent research provides a lovely reminder of just how valuable those 20 minutes can be.
In a 2026 study from McGill University, people who had been severely sleep-deprived completed either 20 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous exercise, took a 90-minute nap or did neither. Those who exercised or napped performed around 22% better in a later memory test than those who did neither.
That doesn’t mean movement can replace the sleep you desperately need—and the study wasn’t specifically conducted with pregnant women or new mums. But it does show that even a relatively short period of movement can have meaningful benefits for a tired brain.
Because I know how difficult it can feel to get to class.
Perhaps your baby was awake throughout the night and simply leaving the house feels enormous. Perhaps you’re pregnant, it’s the end of a long day and the sofa feels much more inviting than an evening class.
Sometimes tiredness tells us that we don’t have enough energy to move. Yet gentle, appropriate movement may be exactly what helps us feel clearer, more alert and better able to meet the rest of the day—or settle into the evening.
You don’t need an hour of continuous exercise for your movement to count.
Twenty minutes woven between conversation, breathing, connection and rest still counts.
Showing up tired still counts.
Doing what you can still counts.
And you are always welcome to arrive exactly as you are 🤍

One part of Mum & Baby Yoga that I don’t often talk about… our five silly walks! 👣🤍
There are lots of different elements within each class: Baby Yoga, a gentle warm-up for Mummy, pelvic floor work, individual postnatal poses, salutations and relaxation. But we also practise these five walks with baby safely held in your arms.
They’re especially helpful when your baby is unsettled or simply doesn’t want to be put down. You can still move your body, enjoy some playful connection with your baby and support your postnatal recovery.
Although they may look a little silly, each walk has a purpose—helping us explore balance while focusing on the back, abs and pelvic floor.
They also create a lovely transition within the class: moving from our baby-focused practice towards giving Mummy’s body the care and attention it deserves.
Perhaps not the part of Mum & Baby Yoga you were expecting—but we practise them every week, and they’re always such a fun part of the class! ✨

You do not need a perfect routine.
If you missed the first week back, you haven’t missed your chance. You don’t need to wait for a quieter week, a new month or the moment when life feels more organised.
One class can count.
One hour can count.
One breath can count.
It doesn’t have to become a flawless weekly habit to be worthwhile. Sometimes simply choosing one small moment to pause, move or reconnect with yourself is enough.
Begin where you are. Come when you can. Let that be enough. ✨

WHY DOES YOGA FEEL DIFFERENT OUTSIDE? 🌳
The ground isn’t perfectly even. The temperature changes. You hear birds, leaves, footsteps and all the sounds of the woods around you. Your gaze naturally becomes wider as you look beyond the edges of a room.
Rather than being distractions, these things invite us to become more present.
The uneven ground asks the feet and legs to respond and stabilise. The fresh air encourages us to notice each breath. The sights, sounds and sensations of the woodland draw our attention away from busy thoughts and back into the body.
It isn’t a perfectly controlled environment—and that is part of what makes it feel so grounding.
This morning gave us the most beautiful sky and a new little discovery: clusters of mushrooms emerging through the grass. 🍄 Such a lovely sign that the season is beginning to change.
We now have just two Saturdays remaining this season:
🌳 Saturday 19 September
🌳 Saturday 26 September
⏰ 8.15–9.30am
📍 Wendover Woods, BBQ Area 2
But this is no longer goodbye—I’m so happy to share that it has now been confirmed that Yoga in the Woods will return next year! 🤍
For now, we have two final opportunities to breathe, move and notice what is happening beneath, above and all around us.

JULY & AUGUST BIRTH STORIES 🤍
Over the summer, so many of the wonderful women from my Pregnancy Yoga classes welcomed their babies into the world.
Every birth unfolded differently. Some were long, some took unexpected turns and some looked nothing like the birth originally imagined. Yet, throughout these stories, I kept hearing how the breathing techniques, visualisations and confidence built in class helped these women navigate labour—and even those first postnatal moments.
Pregnancy Yoga isn’t about promising a particular kind of birth. It’s about building a toolkit you can draw upon however your birth unfolds: learning to work with your breath, trust your body, adapt when plans change and find moments of calm within the unknown.
And it’s about community too. The friendships formed while sitting together and sharing each week can continue long after the babies arrive.
Thank you to every woman who trusted me with her pregnancy journey and generously shared her experience afterwards. I’m so proud of you all—and sending so much love to you and your beautiful summer babies. ✨

OUR POSTNATAL SALUTATION 🤍
Salutations feature heavily in my classes. They give us a familiar sequence to return to, while still leaving space to adapt the practice to how we feel that day.
There is a Moon Salutation for my evening women’s classes, a CorePlay Salutation for my daytime women’s classes, a Prenatal Salutation during pregnancy—and this is our Postnatal Salutation.
Here, I’m showing two versions: one softer and more relaxed, and one a little stronger and more dynamic.
Neither is the “better” version. Every pregnancy is different, every postnatal recovery is different, and every woman arrives on the mat feeling different from one day to the next.
There is no standard to meet and no particular shape you need to make. You can choose the option that supports your body in that moment—or simply rest.
Listen to your body. Choose what you need. Arrive as you are.
