This year's WELLINGTON KHAKI SOX BALL S.A.C. (BASEBALL SPECIAL AWARDS CEREMONY) will be held on FRIDAY OCT 9th in THE IRON DUKE. Apparently, after last time, we are legally obliged to warn all residents beforehand.

SOX ON FIRE!
ASTOUNDING WALK OFF HOME RUN SECURES SOX THE WIN!
A bloody good day of baseball with the Brewers coming up to welly yesterday for a double header. The foxiest, soxiest club in the league were keen to regain ground this week so went baseballs out against the usually indomitable Newton Abbotonians. The first game went to the wire in a nail-biting 23-22 finish to the battling Brewers.
FOX, SOX, COX!
The disapointing result, however, seemed to put fire in the belly of the Sox with two (yes, two) stunning homers to Jamie ‘whizzer’ Cox before striking out the best batter in the league.
SOX FOX HOLE
Our lad Julien returned to prime form with another magnificent Home Run - but the play of the day was the very last. Chasing a four point lead in the final open innings, our poster girl for all things best in Baseball, Natasha ‘Tash’ Hole, stepped up to the plate with bases loaded and popped one out over the basins with a walk off home run which made this reporter squeeze his Um-Bongo so hard it ruined his hat.Final score, game 2, was 16-15 to Wellington.
A cracking day all round.

DID YOU KNOW? Wellington Khaki Sox are named in honour of the khaki puttees worn by British and Commonwealth Servicemen and women in the first world war. The iconic, woollen leg wraps were manufactured by the historic textile mill Fox Brothers & Co Ltd based in Wellington. The Fox Brothers were fundamental in introducing and standardising the "khaki" colour scheme for the military, which was personally approved by the Prince of Wales and the War Office. At the height of WWI, the Tonedale Mills in Wellington produced an astonishing 70,000 pairs of puttees every week to keep up with the demands of trench warfare, keeping soldiers' trousers secure and helping prevent mud from pulling off their boots. The Khaki Sox are proud to bear their name.
