Summer Nationals - Shed of Frogs
It’s difficult to know where to start to describe our first event in Top Fuel Bike but I’ll try not to write an essay.
Before this weekend the bike had never been towed down the pairing lanes, on the startline, switched from methanol to nitro, let alone moved under its own power or attempted anything further.
That being said, this weekend we achieved:
- Switching from methanol to Nitro
- 5 trips down to the startline with 5 successful startups and switches to nitro there.
- Moving under its own power
- 2 burnouts (of sorts!)
- 1 attempted launch
- Lots of towing with no major issues, we’re quite the experts at towing back up the pairing lanes!
- Countless hours of problem solving and knowledge gain.
None of this was an easy feat and we are incredibly proud not to have missed a single qualifying run attempt.
Behind the scenes, there were many issues found and fixed alongside some intermittent issues which are proving trickier to determine.
Having never worked on a top fuel bike before, let alone something this innovative, the whole team came together and made some outstanding progress.
Roger kept incredible composure every time on the bike with nerves of steel from over 40 years experience in drag racing.
The support, advice and spare parts we received from fellow racers was immense. There are far too many to name but thankyou to all of you.
The biggest thanks of all go to Phil Crossley, for allowing us this opportunity of a lifetime and putting up with hundreds of questions!
The cheers and applauding from racers and spectators at every small milestone showed the true colours of this sport, thankyou.
With lots of data to review and thoughts to reflect on we have time now to make changes and improvements and hopefully make even better progress at the National Finals.
See you all soon! 🐸
