⚽ 10-Hour Walking Football Marathon – Update

Things are really starting to gather momentum.

What started as an idea to raise money for Children with Cancer UK and Bushey & Oxhey FC has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of.

The support from local businesses has been amazing, with some fantastic sponsorships and raffle prizes already donated – big shout outs to follow! The raffle is shaping up to have some brilliant prizes, which I hope will help us raise even more.

Having had the pleasure and privilege of facilitating Walking Football locally for the past 8 years, I’ve seen first-hand the incredible impact it can have.

For me, Walking Football is about so much more than football. It’s about inclusion, friendship, activity, confidence and community.

That’s why I’m passionate about this 10-hour Marathon having a wider impact too. If it can raise money for two great causes while showing even more people what Walking Football can offer, it will be worth every step.

⚽ CAN YOU HELP ME RAISE £5,000 FOR CHILDREN WITH CANCER UK AND BUSHEY & OXHEY FC? ⚽

Most of us will know a child who has faced cancer, or a family whose lives have been turned upside down by it. I know that the support available to these children and their families is absolutely crucial, helping them navigate some of the most difficult times imaginable.

That is why I am organising a 10 Hour Walking Football Marathon to raise funds for Children with Cancer UK and Bushey & Oxhey FC.

This event is about much more than football. Walking football is an incredibly inclusive sport that brings people together, improves physical and mental wellbeing, and provides opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to stay active, social, and connected.

Having facilitated walking football groups in the community for the past eight years, I have seen first-hand the positive impact it has had on so many people's lives.

Now, I'm hoping to harness that community spirit to make a difference for children and families affected by cancer.

Participants in the marathon, younger and older, will be taking on an fun and exciting challenge, all while raising money for causes that genuinely change lives.

Whether you can donate £5, £10, £20, or more, every contribution will help. If you're unable to donate, simply sharing this post could help us reach someone who can.

The Bushey Cup was a HUUUGE success!

5 mixed teams from the three groups that I run.
Trophies for the winners and the Player of the Tournament.

Brazil ran out winners on this occasion and it was very close! Scotland were the dark horses - maybe a sign of the World Cup?!?!

The sessions are well and truly back! Summer term sessions - Monday evenings for Men 40-60's and Women only sessions, plus Thursday mornings for Older Adults.

A great way to end the term this week - three full sessions of Walking Football and finishing it off with cake and a cuppa to celebrate one of the gents' and his 50th wedding anniversary! 😀⚽
