Showcasing our wonderful 11-year-old student AimeeLeigh, demonstrating the freedom, expression and creativity of Contemporary Dance. ❤️

Contemporary dance helps young dancers develop strength, flexibility, musicality, floor work, movement quality and individual artistry — encouraging them to explore movement while building strong dance technique.

We’re delighted to welcome our new Contemporary Dance teacher Jessica-May Smyth, a graduate of Northern School of Contemporary Dance and former student of Alvin Ailey. 🌟

🎭 THREE WONDERFUL DAYS OF WEST END FUN! 🎭

What a fantastic three days we’ve had at our Wonderful West End Workshops! ⭐️

Our students told us how much they enjoyed every minute — and there was not a screen in sight! ❤️

Instead, our studios were filled with young people:
🎭 Acting and bringing scripts to life
🎶 Singing and developing musicality, rhythm and timing
💃 Dancing and learning choreography
📖 Reading scripts and exploring stories and literature
🎬 Discovering characters, historical settings and context
🎲 Taking part in drama games and improvisation
✨ Building confidence, creativity and performance skills
❤️ And, most importantly, having FUN together!

Over the three days, students developed their talents across singing, dancing and acting, while learning to work as a team, use their imaginations and express themselves creatively.

🌟 ANNIE’S 18-MONTH DANCE JOURNEY 🌟
From minimal dance experience to preparing for full-time Musical Theatre training at GSA!

When Annie came to Hayward Performing Arts just 18 months ago, she knew that improving her dance technique was going to be essential if she wanted to succeed during the Musical Theatre audition season.

Through a combination of private coaching, weekly classes, hard work, dedication and determination, her progress has been remarkable.

🩰 BALLET
From limited previous experience to achieving a Merit in her ISTD Cecchetti Ballet Grade 4 examination.

👞 TAP
From complete beginner level to now working at ISTD Grade 4 Tap.

🎭 AUDITION PREPARATION
Alongside developing her dance technique, Annie worked on audition preparation, building the confidence, performance skills, fitness and versatility needed for Musical Theatre training.

And all that hard work has paid off…

⭐ Annie has secured a place on the Musical Theatre Foundation Course at Guildford School of Acting (GSA), beginning this September! ⭐

We couldn’t be prouder of what Annie has achieved in just 18 months.

She can now embark on the next stage of her training knowing she has developed a much stronger foundation across dance, singing and acting, giving her the confidence and skills to continue progressing as an all-round performer.

What a difference 18 months can make when you have a goal, the right training and the determination to achieve it. ❤️

🦢 35 YEARS LATER… THE TUTU RETURNS! 🩰😂

Here I am attempting to squeeze back into my Odile tutu from Act III of Swan Lake… 35 years after I wore it professionally.

The good news? I can still get into it.
The bad news? We’re not discussing what’s happening at the back. 😂

Apparently tutus shrink after 35 years… who knew?! 🤣

But it has brought back some wonderful memories — and now I’m passing a little of that Swan Lake magic on to the next generation of young dancers.
