🎾 Warrenpoint Tennis Club's Annual ‘Wimbledon Fun Day’ 2026 🎾

We had a fantastic day at the courts channeling our inner Wimbledon Champions, lol!

In true Wimbledon style there were white outfits, thrilling matches, sparkling atmosphere, strawberries & cream and prosecco and prizes!

There was a prize for the whitest outfit & a prize for the most unique outfit which also happened to be white with tennis balls stuck on 😂 Very creative! Inspired by the outfit worn by Naomi Osaka at Wimbledon 😃

There was also a bit of friendly GAA banter ahead of Saturday's matches, lol!
The question is, who will triumph alongside Down next weekend?

Many, Many Thanks to Derek who organised and presided over all of the matches. A Big thank you to Derval & the Tennis Committe for all their hard work behind the scenes and for keeping the place looking lovely. And lastly, thank you to all who participated, donated prizes and supplied refreshments.

🎾Warrenpoint Tennis Club Hosted it’s Inaugural 'Tennis Ireland' Junior Kids
Tournament May 2026 🎾

Talented preteens from all over Northern Ireland took part in Warrenpoint Tennis
Club's first 'Tennis Ireland' Junior Kids event as part of the Ulster Regional Tour .

The first event was a Green Ball Tournament for 10-12 year olds on full court but with shortened sets and with age appropriate softer green balls. Junior players from the Warrenpoint Club and Juniors from Bangor, Portadown, Ballymena & Dungannon all pitted against each other. All the players conducted themselves admirably and some would present a challenge to quite a few of our adult players, myself included.
The 2 winners Celie from Bangor and Daniel from Portadown proved that consistency and controlled ground strokes win matches.
We were delighted that 2 of our home-grown players also achieved silver and gold.

Our second event was Orange Ball for 8-10 year olds. This is played on a shortened
and narrower court with age appropriate Orange soft balls. Format is first to 10
points wins. In this age group boys and girls play in the same event. One player was
outstanding, Ali from Newcastle had a technically excellent service action and
incredible forehand which left the other players standing in awe at times. One
commenting that Ali was Wimbledon ready! All the players showed great composure even in defeat.
Parents of Ursula and Olivia must be especially proud to have won medals in both
events since all the Warrenpoint players were competing in these events for the first time.

Warrenpoint Tennis club held their annual closed tournament over the last 2 weeks. Wild wind in the first week led to some difficult matches but glorious sunshine has prevailed over the last few days to bring a joyful end to the Tournament.
