Our QUEEN…👑 so incredibly proud of you Miss Loraine, you deserve this more than anyone ❤️
Introducing your President for 2026-27
LORAINE HASTINGS
Loraine is proud to be a Lifetime Member and President of the International Dance Teachers Association. Since the age of three, the IDTA has been part of the fabric of her life, instilling in her a lifelong passion for dance.
Having qualified as a teacher over 45 years ago, Loraine has been fortunate to turn that passion into a rewarding career dedicated to the IDTA. From training children, teachers and prospective examiners to examining, lecturing and undertaking ambassadorial work across the world, she has been privileged to represent and promote the Association both nationally and internationally.
In 1995, under the mentorship of Miss Yvonne Gout, Loraine qualified as a Theatre and Freestyle Examiner. Nine years later she joined the Freestyle Faculty, where she has had the honour of serving as Chair on two occasions and currently holds the position once again. She is also a current member of the Quality Assurance Panel, having previously served in this role, and has played an integral part in shaping the future of the Association through co-authoring multiple syllabi. In addition, Loraine has served as a Director of the Association for several years, contributing to its strategic development and continued success.
Twice nominated for a Carl Alan Award, Loraine was immensely proud to receive the Freestyle Teacher Award in 2016.
Combining her wealth of experience with an unwavering work ethic, Loraine is passionate about ensuring the Association continues to deliver for every member, remains a pioneer of innovation within the dance profession, and builds on its reputation as a leading global organisation.
One of the proudest moments of Loraine’s professional career is her appointment as President of the International Dance Teachers Association. She is deeply honoured to lead an organisation that has shaped her life from childhood and is committed to supporting its members, celebrating excellence, and inspiring the future of dance education for generations to come.
