Here is your match day squad for tomorrow's pre-season friendly against Trentham.

We are delighted to welcome back a number of Walsall players following injury, holiday and spending the off season playing cricket.

It's our first meeting with Trentham in a few seasons and they head into tomorrow's fixture following a terrific 2025/26 season which saw them earn promotion to Counties 1.

We are sure it will be another competitive and entertaining match, so please come down and give the boys your full support.

This Saturday, our senior squad are back in action for their second pre-season friendly as we welcome Trentham RFC to Walsall RFC.

We were originally due to face Camp Hill, but unfortunately they were unable to field a team. A huge thank you to Trentham for stepping in at short notice. We're looking forward to another competitive pre-season test.

Come down, support the lads, and enjoy an afternoon of rugby.

We are pleased to announce that Kaden Wallace has returned to Walsall RFC for the 2026/27 season.

A former Walsall junior player, Kaden represented several of our age groups before representing our Colts side. He has returned to pre-season following a break from rugby and is impressing with his hardwork, commitment and natural strength.

We look forward to seeing him in action.

▪︎START OF SEASON UPDATE▪︎

As many of you should now be aware, the RFU has decided to delay the start of all RFU competitions. This delay means our first competitive fixtures will now take place on Saturday 26th September:

• 1st XV vs Melbourne (H)
• 2nd XV vs Old Yardleians (A)

Our 1st and 2nd XV pre-season friendlies vs DK will now be played on Saturday 12th September (H)

On Saturday 10th October, our 1st XV plays Long Eaton (H) and on Saturday 9th January, our 1st XV travels to Matlock (A).

Once the 2nd and 3rd XV rearranged fixtures have been confirmed, they will be shared.

Please note, our rugby club remains open as usual and in these unusual and challenging times, please continue to attend, have a drink and support us. Training also continues as planned.

Mini and Junior rugby training will start on Sunday 6th September and we look forward to welcoming all our current and new players to Walsall RFC.

Congratulations to our squad for their hard-fought draw this afternoon.

It was the entertaining and competitive match we expected and both teams played some terrific rugby. For Walsall it provided them with the opportunities to practice what they had been working on in training and for different players to make their case for the new season.

Huge thanks to Malvern for travelling and the game today - we hope you have a fantastic season.

Pre-season preparations continue at training this week and we look forward to welcoming Camp Hill next Saturday for another pre-season fixture.

After careful consideration and consultation with clubs across England, the RFU has decided to delay the start of the competitive community game season until the week commencing Monday 21 September.

The RFU recognises this will be disappointing for clubs, players and volunteers who have been preparing for the new season, but the decision follows consideration of a range of factors. For full details please follow this link.

Our senior players have been hard at work during pre-season training and tomorrow provides them with the opportunity to put everything they have been working on, into practice.

In the coming weeks, we will be shining the spotlight on our fantastic Colts players who are making the transition to Senior Rugby this season.

These Colts players had a fantastic 2025/26 season and delivered one of the best performances we have watched in a long time against Stafford in the Fred Rowley Final.

Whilst many of our Colts had the opportunity to represent Walsall at a senior level last season, they are excited to enjoy, develop and thrive in our senior rugby setup.

The next player we are welcoming and introducing is Joe Labram.

We hope you have a fantastic season Joe, and you enjoy every minute.

This Saturday, we have our first pre-season fixture of the new season against Malvern.

Our players have been hard at work during pre-season training and we are looking forward to seeing the players put their hard work into action. We are sure this will be an entertaining and tough encounter for both sides.

The game is being played at home and kicks off at 2pm.
