π What a fantastic result! π
Following on from our Walsall Arboretum Running Club 5K & 10K Charity Run on 19th July, we finally got to make our cheque handover last night to Samaritans UK.
Weβre absolutely delighted to have raised an amazing Β£660! ππ
This money will go towards supporting the Walsall branch of the Samaritans, helping them continue the incredible and invaluable work they do supporting people when they need someone to talk to. β€οΈ
Weβd also like to say a huge thank you to the Samaritans team for supporting us on race day as our marshals, timekeepers and general all-round support crew. π
We genuinely couldnβt have done it without you! π
And, of course, a massive thank you to everyone who ran, volunteered, donated and supported our event. Your generosity helped make this possible. πββοΈπββοΈπ
Hereβs to many more miles and making a difference along the way! ππ«

What a week for Walsall Arboretum Running Club! π³πͺ
Last week, we had an amazing 45 members taking part in 16 different parkruns! π Thatβs incredible, well done to everyone who got out there, got moving and got it done. π
We also had some fantastic parkrun achievements to celebrate! π
A big congratulations to Rohim Uddin on completing his 25th parkrun! π₯³π What a fantastic milestone!
And a special mention to Stuart, who took on Bushy Park parkrun, the home of parkrun itself! π³πββοΈ A brilliant one to tick off the list! π
It was also the week of the solar eclipse, and our wonderful Social Coordinator, Bally, organised a walk around our beautiful Arboretum so we could all try to witness this exceptionally rare event. ππ
Now, weβll let you judge for yourselves from the photosβ¦ but weβre not entirely convinced they managed to witness the eclipse at all! ππ€£
That said, there was plenty of fun, laughter and good company and thatβs what itβs all about! β€οΈ

βοΈπββοΈ Walsall Arboretum Running Club β Weekly Round-Up πββοΈβοΈ
What a scorcher of a week! π₯΅ A huge well done to everyone who ventured out for a run in the heat. We hope you all remembered to stay hydrated π§ and stick to the shade wherever possible! π³
Last weekend, we had an amazing 42 members taking part at 20 different parkrun locations! π Thatβs some serious tourism!
A special shout-out goes to Suki Bassi, who celebrated her 100th tourism parkrun at Stratford-upon-Avon parkrun! ππ
Well done, Suki! Your beautiful smile and enthusiasm have been taken to so many different locations! Hereβs to the next 100! π₯³πββοΈ
Although this week is supposed to be a little cooler, itβs still going to be very warm, so please take care when running:
π§ Keep well hydrated before, during and after your run
π
Try to run early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are cooler
π³ Stick to shaded routes where possible
π’ Slow your pace and listen to your body, thereβs no need to chase a PB in the heat!
π§’ Wear light, breathable clothing and consider a hat and sunscreen
π If you feel dizzy, nauseous, unusually tired or unwell, stop and get somewhere cool
Remember, thereβs no shame in slowing down or shortening your run when itβs hot! β€οΈ

βοΈ Run Club Update βοΈ
Unfortunately, due to the forecasted temperatures of 29Β°C later today, weβve made the decision to cancel this eveningβs Walsall Arboretum Running Club session.
We know this will be disappointing, and itβs never a decision we make lightly. However, the health, safety, and wellbeing of our members will always come first, and with the heat expected this evening, we feel itβs the right call.
Take the opportunity to keep cool, stay hydrated, and enjoy a well earned rest! π§π Weβll be back together soon and canβt wait to see you all at our next run.
Thanks, as always, for your understanding and support. Stay safe everyone! β€οΈπββοΈπββοΈ

We had 42 Walsall Arboretum Running Club members taking part in 12 different parkruns across the country! π
A special shout out goes to two of our adventurous runners:
π Michelle Young completed Black Combe parkrun, which is uniquely based inside HMP Haverigg, definitely one of the most unusual parkrun locations around!
β°οΈ Michelle Nicklin took on the challenge of Woolacombe Dunes parkrun, widely regarded as one of the UK's toughest parkruns. What an incredible achievement!
π Amazing running, ladies!
π¬ Over to you... Where's the strangest or hardest parkrun you've ever completed? Let us know in the comments! π
We also celebrated two brilliant PBs this week:

On Sunday 19th July, Walsall Arboretum Running Club held our annual charity run, raising vital funds for the Samaritans β Walsall Branch. ππββοΈπββοΈ
This year saw the introduction of our brand new 2-lap route, giving runners the choice of either a 5K or 10K distance. We also introduced pacers for the very first time, with target times of sub-50 minutes, sub-1 hour and sub-1 hour 10 minutes.
It was fantastic to see so many of our members making the most of the pacers, pushing themselves and achieving their running goals. The support, encouragement and smiles out on the course were amazing to see!
Our annual charity run is always one of our favourite events in the club calendar. Itβs a wonderful opportunity to come together as a club, enjoy running, and give something back to our local community.
Weβre incredibly proud to share that, thanks to everyoneβs generosity, we raised an amazing Β£660 for the Walsall Samaritans. A huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated, volunteered, and to the local Samaritans team who joined us on the day to help marshal the event, we couldnβt have done it without you.
Thank you to our amazing photographer, Julian, for all of the photos! πΈ
Thank you to everyone who made the day such a success. We canβt wait to do it all again next year! π

πββοΈβ°οΈ Running is just part of what makes Walsall Arboretum Running Club so special! π
At Walsall Arboretum Running Club, weβre about so much more than miles and medals. Throughout the year we enjoy a fantastic calendar of social events, from scenic walks and meals out to drinks with friend and every now and then, something a little more adventurous!
On Saturday, a large group of our members took on the challenge of Snowdon. With soaring temperatures, it certainly wasnβt the easiest day to be climbing, but in true WARC style everyone pulled together, supported each other, and reached the summit with plenty of determinationβ¦ and lots of laughs along the way! ππ₯Ύ
A huge thank you goes to our amazing Social Team, led by Bally, for organising this adventure and all the brilliant events they put together throughout the year. Your hard work helps make WARC the friendly, welcoming club that it is.
If youβre looking for a running club where friendships are just as important as fitness, weβd love to welcome you!
