🏏 GIRLS CRICKET AT SANDAL CRICKET CLUB 🏏

We’re really excited to be growing our newly formed girls cricket team for girls aged 6–11.

The team is still in its early stages, so this is a brilliant time to come along, make new friends and be part of something from the beginning.

This Saturday sees the 1st XI host Birstall CC at The SCG with the 2s making the short trip to the same club. Fingers crossed for a dry day and further strong performances from our senior sides.

A depleted 1st XI made it 4 wins on the bounce yesterday at Hanging Heaton CC. Sole seamer Umar Abbas led the way with the ball taking 3-63 after the hosts were inserted on a green top.

The lads then masterminded the perfect run chase. Leighton Shuttleworth (59) and sheet anchor Sam Owen (36) prepared the base for Sohail Hussain (87) and Sasindu Malshan (47) to apply the toppings before the big artillery Umar Abbas and Denson Narayan rolled in to finish the job reaching the 273 target with an over to spare.

The 2s battled hard at The SCG with skipper Scott Fairbrass (72) leading the charge to rebuild the innings from 44/6 to post 161.

The lads fought to defend a modest total with Leigh Learie (5/64) and Lee Geldard (3/37) taking it to the wire but the visitors just made it over the line with 2 wickets to spare.

Two fantastic games of cricket and another marvellous social event back at the club later in the evening.

This Saturday sees the 1st XI make the short journey to Hanging Heaton CC with the 2s hosting the same club at The SCG.

Team news…this Saturday sees the 1st XI host Division 1 leaders Yeadon CC with an opportunity to close the gap whilst the 2s travel to Carlton CC looking to maintain their recent good form.
