The First XI head to Woodlands today for their penultimate game of the season. Sitting four places above the relegation zone, the lads will be looking to secure the points needed to ensure Premier League cricket at Town Street next season.
The Second XI, currently sitting 5th, are at home to 3rd-placed Northowram Fields, who are still chasing promotion. Another tough challenge awaits, but the boys will be looking to repeat last weekβs victory.
The forecast isnβt looking great, but fingers crossed the rain stays away and we get a full afternoon of cricket!

ππ Carlton Women Narrowly Miss Out in Thriller! ππ
Cawthorne Women hosted Carlton Women on Tuesday night for a fantastic evening of cricket, with the game going right down to the wire!
Carlton fielded first and Tilly was the standout bowler, bowling superbly and keeping the runs under control. There was also some excellent fielding, with Emma taking a brilliant catch while Fiona put in a fantastic performance in the field and came agonisingly close to a direct-hit run out. Carlton actually finished with the most wickets in the game, taking four in total.
With the bat, Kirsty and Joanne got things underway with an excellent 20-run partnership. It eventually came down to Leanne and Julie, who needed 20 runs from the final pair to win. They fought all the way to the end but just couldnβt quite get over the line, with Carlton finishing just one run short!
A special mention to Jenny, who kindly turned out for Cawthorne to make up the numbers and then proceeded to have a great game β including stopping two potential Carlton boundaries! ππ
After only coming together three months ago, the Carlton Women should be incredibly proud of this performance. To push such an established team all the way and come within one run of victory is a fantastic achievement and shows just how much progress the team has made in such a short space of time.
A huge thank you to Cawthorne Women for the warm welcome, a fantastic evening of cricket and the lovely home baking afterwards. We look forward to returning the hospitality and welcoming you to Town Street soon! π
π Final Score:
Cawthorne Women 278-4
Carlton Women 277-2
What a game! πππ

ππ Saturday Round-Up ππ
The First XI faced a tough challenge against title-chasing Townville and, despite the result not going our way, picked up 4 valuable bonus points as the battle for Premier League survival continues. Carlton remain 7th in the table, with every point becoming increasingly important. Farrukh Alam was the standout performer with the bat, producing a superb 72.
The Second XI showed fantastic fighting spirit against a strong Bowling Old Lane side. Captain Kian Wade led from the front with an excellent 72, setting the platform in difficult, damp conditions. He was joined by now self-proclaimed βall-rounderβ Clark Harrison, who blasted a brilliant 39, making batting look far easier than it was!
The local hero then backed it up with the ball, claiming an impressive 5-60 as Carlton bowled Bowling Old Lane out for just 113. The victory earned the Seconds 19 points, moving them up to 5th in the table. A fantastic all-round performance! ππ
