I met an old school friend this week.

She has a lot going on. Moving house. Starting a new job. Kids changing schools. An hour-long school run every day.

She told me she was worried about her anxiety levels and whether she’d be able to cope with it all.

So I asked her:

“What does your morning routine look like?”

“I don’t have one.”

And I thought… there’s your problem.

Not entirely, of course. Life is complicated and there’s no magic morning routine that makes everything easy.

But when so much around you is changing, having something that anchors you can make a huge difference.

I’m not talking about a rigid, obsessive routine where if you don’t do everything perfectly your whole day falls apart.

I’m talking about small daily habits that steer the course of your day.

Things that ground you.
Things that bring you into the now.
Things that belong to you.

My morning routine changes with the seasons of my life, but at the moment it looks something like this:

5.45am wake up
🪥 Teeth + a few exercises
💧 Splash of cool water
🫚 Hot water + ginger
🌊 Cold water dip when I can
🧘🏼‍♀️ 30 minutes of yoga
☕️ Black coffee + breakfast
📖 Sometimes a little journalling
8am ready to start my day

Two hours before the rest of the house wakes up.

Two hours that are mine.

And honestly, I love every element of it.

I often go to bed excited about my morning.

Yours will look completely different. It might be five minutes with a cup of tea, a walk around the block, some stretching, reading a few pages or simply putting your phone away for the first 20 minutes of the day.

It doesn’t have to be complicated.

Choose one thing that makes you feel good. And start there.

Because when life feels like it’s pulling you in every direction, you don’t always need to change everything.

Sometimes you just need an anchor.

What’s your morning anchor? 🤍

Women empowered.

All ages.

All walks of life.

Finding joy in the simple pleasures.

Tapping into the childlike joy within.

Together.

Maybe feeling better doesn't come from pushing harder.

Just sit with that for a moment.

For years, I thought every workout had to leave me exhausted. Every day had to be productive. Rest felt lazy.

Looking back, I wasn't chasing fitness.

I was chasing worth.

Life has softened me since then.

Recently, I was reminded of that on a trip to Norway. Not because of the dramatic mountains, but because of something beautifully ordinary.

Sunday. On Sunday, everything was closed.

No shopping. No rushing. No pressure to be doing.

At first, it felt strange. Then it felt like freedom. It was wonderful.

It made me wonder whether we've forgotten how to pause. Somewhere along the way we've become a society that's always available, always productive and always switched on.

These days, I believe peace lives in the slower moments. A sea swim. A quiet walk. A coffee without checking your phone. Time in nature. Time with people you love.

I often think of a retreat as being the Sunday in your year.

A chance to close the door on the noise for a few days and reconnect with yourself.

As we step into August, maybe this is your reminder.

❤️ What's one thing you'll do this week to slow down?

I’ve absolutely loved wearing these pieces from tame&wild - feel-good leisurewear & accessories over the past few weeks. 🤍

From slow mornings by the sea and yoga on the mat to travel days and everyday life, they’ve become the kind of clothes I reach for again and again. Comfortable, beautifully made and easy to wear wherever the day takes you.

It’s always a joy to find brands that create pieces which feel just as good as they look, and these have definitely earned a place in my regular wardrobe.

Thanks, tame&wild - feel-good leisurewear & accessories for creating clothing that moves with every adventure. 🌿✨

We're so delighted to be returning to Anglesey this summer, with two retreats on the island this year.

Yoga and wild swimming is our theme, and with lake and sea both on the doorstep, there's something for everyone.

Day one always starts with a swim in the infamous Llyn Padarn, at the foot of Snowdon, followed by the sauna to warm back up, and a picnic on the shore.

If this sounds like your kind of trip, there are just a few places remaining.

Twenty years ago I was traveling solo in Sri Lanka. No phone, no internet, no way to tell anyone I was okay.

This week, it's Norway - solo again, but off to teach and host a yoga and adventure retreat.

Solo travel looks different now. Here's why more women are choosing it than ever:

It's the one trip nobody else's plans dictate.

It rebuilds your decision-making muscle.

It's no longer the leap it once was - solo female travel searches are at a 15-year high, and women are now the majority of solo travellers worldwide.

Wellness travel is having its own moment right now - sauna, cold water, digital detox, slow mornings.

Midlife has a way of prompting this. Kids more independent, career built, and a pull to reconnect with the parts of yourself that got put on hold.

Confidence, once found, doesn't leave.

Take the leap. Book something that's entirely yours this summer.
