Oliver panelcraft

Lots coming in and out the workshop at the moment, The gorgeous little 1932 Singer Le Mans is now at the paintshop having had a complete body refurbishment, Kia Sorento in a poor way live to fight another day with new inner and outer sills, an Iveco motorhome for a tricky bit of chassis leg work around the flexi brake pipe mount, a 2001 VW T5 with a 2.9L V6 engine (!) for various welding including the bottom of the NS "B" post that had previously been stuffed full of newspaper and filled over the top! Renault Horsebox for rear floor sections, Fiesta for 2 new sills, a 25 year old Nissan Micra for various welding to keep it on the road and finally I forgot my 1932 "Jensen Special" became 94 years old last week.

Once again a wide variety of tasks going on in the workshop and as per usual I can't believe where the time's gone! A mid 90's Rover 200 cabriolet for a new rear wheelarch section, nicely "joddled and punched" for a neat repair, Mercedes 190 from 1991 for a boot floor repair by the towing anchor, Mk7 Transit for the usual underbody repairs, a lovely early 30's Singer Le Mans for some new aluminium sections and wooden frame sections then off to the paintshop for a repaint, 1989 Jaguar XJ-S with a manual gearbox (!) for all 4 jacking points and finally remember the Ford Puma for a complete body resto? Now completed and looking absolutely splendid.

As per usual I've seen a wide selection of vehicles go through the workshop recently, some sporty, some not so sporty. A track prepared Honda Civic Type R for rear inner sill repairs, 19 year old VW Golf plus for 2 new sills and the only sign of corrosion on the car, A quite obviously "Very fast" and fantastic condition 20 year old Subaru Impreza for rear sill and inner wheelarch reconstruction, the pictures showing the construction of the sill panels, a 22 year old VW Beetle for rear sill repairs where all the wet debris gets trapped under the wheelarch liner, a supurb one owner 20 year Proton Jumbuck pick up for new sills which again meant I had to make new sill panels as they are no longer available. All my repairs are rustproofed on the outside and wax injected on the inside. Finally for those with a good memory of the old site at Long Hanborough and "Kay's Pantry", the van my late father John Oliver built that never really got finished and is now unfortunately destined for the big scrap yard in the sky, I've cut a side panel and door section from it which he sign wrote himself and they now hang very nicely in my workshop.

Been a busy period in workshop as always with a wide variety of vehicles, a lovely 1990 BMW 840i for rear sill reconstruction, 1975 Toyota Hi-Ace camper with big rust problems around the rear arches and floor pan, VW Touran for the usual rear sill repair, Suzuki Grand Vitara with a similar problem and remember the super rare Rover 220GTI? Back from the paintshop now and looking absolutely fabulous, rear arches and sills wax injected and ready for the proud owner to reassemble.
