CAPTAIN WHITTAKER RETURNS 🫡

We’re delighted to announce that Jake Whittaker will return as Edgworth CC 2nd XI Captain for a second consecutive season.

Jake has led the 2nd XI through a remarkable period of success, taking the side all the way to Division 2, the highest division the club’s 2nd XI has ever competed in, where they now regularly come up against 1st XIs from across the league.

His record with the 2nd XI speaks for itself:

1x Promotion 🏆
1x T20 Cup Winner 🏆
1x League Cup Finalist 🥈
247 wickets in just 3 seasons at Edgworth 🤯

Jake’s leadership, competitiveness and performances have played a huge part in establishing the 2nd XI at the highest level in the club’s history.

Now entering his second season as captain, Captain Whittaker is back, and there’s plenty more to come. 🏏

It’s been another memorable and milestone season for our young and very talented Women’s 1st XI. Double title champions in the 40 over and T20 LCF leagues. Worthy finalists in the Lancashire Knock Out Cup. Plus a second year of great experience gathered from within the prestigious Thunder Cup competition.

We’re so very proud of every player and thanks from our hearts to the coaches, club and supporters who’ve seen us through the season! 🏆 🏆

💙🏏 FIRST TEAM CAPTAINCY ANNOUNCEMENT 🏏💙

After five seasons of leading the Edgworth 1st XI on and off the field, we can confirm that Ally Dickson will step down from the First Team captaincy, with Brad Yates taking over the role.

We want to place on record our huge thanks to Ally for his contributions as captain. Over five seasons, Ally has helped drive the club to great success and played a huge part in establishing Edgworth as one of the leading Premier League clubs.

His fiercely competitive nature, ambition and desire to win have driven the highest standards from those around him, and his leadership has helped shape the culture and expectations of our First XI.

We’re delighted, however, that Ally will remain heavily involved with the club in his role as Cricket Manager. He will work closely with Brad, as well as our other team captains, to continue driving standards, supporting our players and helping take Edgworth Cricket Club forward across all of our senior and junior teams.

We’re equally delighted that Brad Yates will now take on the First Team captaincy.

Brad joined Edgworth last season and has fitted into the club incredibly well from day one. He has quickly become an important part of the group and we feel he is perfectly placed to take the First XI forward.

We’re excited to see what this next chapter brings and believe the combination of Brad’s leadership and Ally’s continued involvement will put the club in a fantastic position for the future.

A huge thank you to Ally for everything he has given as captain and best of luck to Brad in his new role! 💙
