35 years to the day, Kent Cricket Direct opened its doors for the very first time 🏏

And 10 years ago, Dominic and Linda took over the shop. And what a crazy 10 years it has been!

There have been plenty of ups and downs, but one thing that has always been consistent, is the incredible people who walk through our doors❤️

We’ve watched junior players grow up, welcomed families back year after year, and had customers travel from hours away because we’re the last independent cricket shop in Kent.

We’re incredibly grateful for all the support you’ve shown us. We genuinely wouldn’t be celebrating 35 years without you! ❤️

Congrats to Tonbridge Cricket Club for a great day of cricket against PCA legends celebrating their 225th anniversary. So pleased we were able to be part of it. Meeting Monty Panesar completely made my day! 🏏

How are your toes? 🏏

No, not you feet… we mean your bat toe! 😂🦶

We’re halfway through the season, and with all this dry weather, hard wickets are giving cricket bats a bit of a battering aha.

We’ve seen a massive increase in damaged bat toes coming into the shop recently, with the most common culprits being:

💥 Yorkers hitting the very bottom of the bat
⚡ Fast deliveries catching the toe directly
🪵 Constant tapping on hard, dry wickets

The good news? A split toe doesn’t automatically mean your bat is finished 🙌

Minor damage can often be reinforced, while more significant splits can usually be repaired by our team.

One of the simplest ways to help prevent damage in the first place is a toe guard (which we highly recommend).

But… if your bat is damaged, let us know and we’ll be more than happy to take a look and advise you on the best next steps.

A day that should have happened decades ago 🏏👭

On Friday, Linda & co. had the privilege of heading to Lord’s to witness history.

It was the first ever Women’s Test to be played at Lord’s 👀

We’ll give you a moment to process that….

Cricket has been played at Lord’s since 1814. Countless iconic matches have taken place, and countless legends have walked through the Long Room. Yet it’s only now that the women have had the opportunity to play a Test here, 50 years after Rachel Heyhoe Flint led the first Women’s XI at Lord’s.

We’d say that’s massively overdue.

The match result wasn’t the one England fans were hoping for, but the occasion was about so much more than the scorecard. We feel incredibly lucky to have been there to witness such an important moment in women’s cricket, and even luckier to experience it from the Pavilion.

Being surrounded by so many women and girls who love the game was a brilliant reminder of how far cricket has come, and how much more there is still to look forward to 🥰
