When I first completed the Fan Dance 9 years ago it was a bit of a sliding doors moment.
A race which I had originally built up in my head as being a monumental task, while being tough, had me asking what else I could achieve if I put my mind to it.
This race set the path to start running further and faster over the next 9 years.
Culminating in 100 miles across the North Downs in 2024.
Revisiting the Fan Dance and knocking over an hour off my original time was a real point of reflection.
It’s rare to see huge leaps of performance, change in body composition or mindset (especially after the first year.)
But to look back at where you started and see how much progress you have made over nearly a decade, was not lost on me.
And the proof that the small wins you take week on week, month on month, really do add up.

When I came up with the idea of “The Wild Path” the idea was simple.
A challenge that required a mixture of strength and endurance, set in a nature.
Somewhere with beauty yet still wild enough that you needed to respect the ever changing environment.
An event you couldn’t turn up for unprepared.
That disconnected you from all other aspects of life. And for a while immersed you in the challenge ahead of you.
The Fan Dance ticked all the boxes.
14 miles in the Brecon Beacons.
A mixture of hard hiking and challenging trails.
Type 2 fun.
Great to have Mike L and Mike G along for the experience.
And to revisit the event that started my running journey 9 years ago.
Back to the drawing board for the next one….. 🏔️

My time at HALO Gym Tunbridge Wells has come to an end.
Next week is my last full week before I go on to take on a new challenge.
Reflecting on the last 6.5 years, it’s been an epic journey.
And I can speak highly enough of the gym itself, the members, staff and coaches.
It’s been an environment that has challenged me but allowed me to grow as a coach and individual.
From starting the run club, to coaching kettlebell sessions, getting time on the radio and running multiple seminars.
I came in as a single man in a flat share and leave with a partner (who I met in Halo), a son, a dog and a mortgage 😂
But also having met some incredible humans and had some great experiences along the way.
Looking forward to the next chapter but also very grateful that Halo has been a foundation of the last one.
Still working in the fitness industry, still going to be coaching.
More to come…..
