Time for a new chapter.
Well today definitely feels strange. It’s inset day at Holmewood House School, the day before the children go back, and I’m not there.
After 14 years as the Art Technician (plus 9 years as their magazine editor - an evenings, weekends & school holidays job) I’ve been made redundant!
The redundancy came as a shock and the process wasn’t nice. I will miss so many amazing colleagues and an Art Department I have been proud to be a part of, led by the superb (Head of Art). I firmly believe we were a brilliant team and in addition to sparking the children’s imaginations and interest in art, we created many stunning art displays and projects (see photos of the final show).
It’s daunting but it’s now time for me to back myself and (hopefully) make my art and children’s picture books into a proper business. I have shows booked up including the Hever Castle Craft & Design Fair 10th - 13th September and I hope to do more of my school visits/book readings etc going forward.
Keep on movin’

Bank holiday Monday 31st August (tomorrow) I have a stall in the stunning gardens at the Chevening House (near Sevenoaks) Summer Fete in aid of the Hospice in the Weald . I’m going to show this painting ‘That Friday feeling’. Pop along and say hello 😊

I love to use yellows and oranges in my paintings, I feel they are optimistic and happy colours. I enjoyed using yellows and oranges in the (currently unfinished) painting of the 3 Utsuri Koi fish and now starting 3 Sunflower paintings. 🌻

Each painting is a journey that takes time and patience, but worth it in the end (I think).
