Troon is a quiet, melancholic seaside town with a large sandy beach and several golf courses. There are plenty of good restaurants, shops and beautiful places to visit nearby. You can easily make day trips to Arran, Culzean Castle, Bute, Little Cumbrae, and Alloway (home of Robert Burns). There are direct trains to Glasgow (40mins) and Edinburgh (2hrs).
