A new week another player next up

Today was our first day in 11s competitive football and it was up against one of the toughest in the league, the boys never hid and for 60/65 minutes gave everything to the game, passing, tackling, off the ball runs and some great skills, was really great to see the progress we have made over the last couple of months.

Bonnyton Thistle Blacks 2014s took the lead in a very end to end first half with small marginal errors cost us to go down 2-0, we rallied and before we knew it we had got two goals from Charlie’s powerful running and dribbling past players that took him in on goal to slot a lovely finish away and again Charlie popped up with the ball but this time he slotted in Jacob who had a powerful run into the box and as calm as you like found the back of the net, we really had the grit between the teeth but energy dropped and with that another drop in concentration saw Bonnyton retake the lead and extend it.

A lot of effort has went into running in pre-season and again today but we just come up short and take the Loss, we look to this game tho as the bench mark going forward because in reality the final score really looks worse than it actually is. We go again on Tuesday and we remember the positive to take away from today

Referees player of the match was Archie Kerr, who took the game and put in the performance we all know he has in the locker outstanding in the tackle and his understanding of his position sponsored by The Auchans, Dundonald

Coaches player of the match was Charlie Moffat who dazzled all day as a lone striker he held up the ball and took on the back line, never letting up shows his pure love of getting on the ball to play football.

A special mention to the referee today, without them there is no game to be played and enjoyed, our ref today is a credit to himself. thanks again to bonnyton for the game and enjoy the rest of the season at 11s Ayrshire Youth Football League Public

As we start our new season, it’s time to meet the players, and get to know them, first up is Finlay

A very well ran tournament yesterday by St Andrews bc, the boys had a great time playing against some good intermediate teams, started of strong and really put into practice what we have been trying to do transitioning into 11s and took a strong confident lead 2-0 against st cadocs, a few subs and change of tempo saw the game turn and before we knew it, it was 3-2. We rallied and got the draw with a wonderful effort from Jude who was fresh off the boat to join the team,

Our second game came back to back and was againsnt KFA whites and the effort from the first game carried on into this game but we tired and and tried to keep going but to no avail

We had a break and enjoyed each others company and the boys kept in a great mood focusing on our next game, and wanting to make a good go of it,

Our 3rd game of the day came against St Andrews bc (blue) and we really went into it all geared up, they scored a goal to knock us back but we reacted and pushed on and scored plenty of goals and played great football passing it around and just enjoying the game. A well deserved victory,

Our last game was against po***ck , and it was again another game one after the other. So little time to recover, but we took the game by the scruff of the neck and really went for it, a super goal that curled into the top corner kicked it off and we started to play around creating chances, po***ck showed there determination by pressing and a pass in behind and a by chance long range effort found the back of the net to take the game to penalties,

All the boys stuck together and as always penalties are a cruel decider but a great moment to be involved in, and all the boys wanted to take one but a couple of missed penalties saw us take the Lose, but we can hold our heads up as it was a great day and built the fitness and endurance needed for the 11s game, all the best to everyone at the tournament

A free weekend for us so a couple of the team went along to support the Troon Football Club, a great day and game of football resulting in a victory for Troon against Gretna. Well done Callum , Finlay and Jude representing the club proudly
