The club are mourning the loss of a Tredegar cricketing stalwart Warren Jenkins who represented and captained Tredegar Southend for many years. His funeral is on Thursday 30th November, 10.15 at Penuel Funeral Home Tredegar then onto Blackwood crem. Tredegar Wales

Joint 4th finish in the league for us this season. Not as high as we wanted but lots of positives to celebrate with our players topping the most league wickets, runs and catches.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 to Andrew Evans on a fantastic season again with the bat finishing with 393 runs in only 7 games at an average of 78 and 2 consecutive 💯s.

👏🏻👏🏻to our veteran Vern Hadley with 20 wkts again and to new recruit Raj doing well behind the stumps. Well done to Ian Morris and Jacob Richards for also finishing in the top 10 run scorers. Morris with 307 runs at an average of 51 and Richards with 264 at an average of 33.

Richards also finished in the top 10 wicket takers with 14 wickets along with Meril Withanage who took 13 wickets. Finally, a big shout out beds to go to skipper Huw Jenkins who not only had a good season with the bat but worked tirelessly week in week out to get 11 on the field. Plenty of positives to work on through the off season 🏏🏏🏏.

Final league match of the season ended on a positive note with a 9 wkt win over Blaengarw & Coedely CC. Big shout out to the home side for getting the game on, playing through showers, an amazing tea and their hospitality after the game👌🏻. Father and son bowling duo Withanage and Jeremy Withanage stole the show taking 9 wkts between them. Meril with 5-22 and Jeremy 4-20. Carl Hughes instantly having an impact with a wicket with his 1st ball resulted in us bowling out our opponents for 96.

Blaengarw bowled well early on making it difficult to score but openers Ian Pembrey & Andrew Evans eventually got into their stride putting on 60 for the first wicket before Pembrey fell for 34. Ian Morris joined Evans and finished the game off in the 20th over resulting in 9 wkt victory. Evans finishing off a tremendous season with 28no with a total of 393 runs for the season and Morris finishing off on 26no and 307 runs for the season. The victory put us in joint 4th for the season; not as high as we wanted but a lot of positives to be taken from the season.

Great numbers again at our All Stars Cricket and Dynamos Cricket sessions. I was so busy that I forgot to take some photos. Great to see new faces at our women’s softball training too. They are gearing up for their friendly against Blackwood on Tuesday. All stars sessions are 5-6 and Dynamos and Women’s are 6-7 on Fridays up at Tredegar Recreation Ground. Spread the word and give it a try .

Local derby run fest at Hoovers last Saturday which saw nearly 500 runs scored and two 💯 s. Ebbw Vale Cricket Club 2XI won the toss and put us into bat. Openers Ian Pembrey and Andrew Evans started strongly, going at 5 an over and putting on 61 for the first wicket before Pembrey departed . This brought Nathan Payne to the crease. Him and Evans kept the tempo up, putting on 62 for the 2nd wicket before Payne was unluckily bowled by a ball that shot across the ground for 27.

Evans was then joined at the crease by Jacob Richards who, with Evans, upped the tempo of the innings with the boundary being found regularly. Evans and Richards out on 120 for the 3rd wicket with Richards bringing up his fifty before departing for 52. Evans kept hitting the ball to all parts being up his superb 💯 with a four down the ground. This great innings helped us post 267-4 from our 40 overs.

We started strongly with the ball. Payne and and Richards bowled tight and was backed up by some good fielding resulting in us picking up regular wickets early on. This brought Gareth Morgan to the crease. Morgan started slowly and rode his luck early in but slowly settled in to his innings. Striking the ball cleanly and carrying his team’s innings keeping them in the game through out. Morgan brought up his well deserved 💯 up but soon departed after the Tredegar bowlers stuck at it, picking up wickets regularly. Once Morgan and Boulter departed after some clean hitting, our bowlers cleaned up the innings. Bowling out Ebbw for 213 resulting in a 54 run victory. N Payne was the pick of the bowlers taking 3-37, backed up by Richards with 2-27 and Hadley 2-37. Thanks to Ebbw Vale for a great game, shame many of them had to rush back to their ground after the game. All the best for the rest of the season.
