Irish Fireball Association

Irish Fireball Association Irish Fireball Sailing Fireballs are one of the most exciting and fun two-person dinghies sailed in Ireland.

The boat, with trapeze and spinnaker, is light, fast, exciting and yet stable. We sail and race Fireballs all year round - during the Winter at the DMYC Frostbites in Dun Laoghaire and during Summer at regional events around the country and club racing with the Dublin Bay Sailing Club Tuesday and Saturday’s series in Dun Laoghaire. Irish Fireballers also compete in international events around the world. While the Irish fleets are mainly in the Dublin Bay waterfront clubs there are also fleets in Killaloe, Skerries and Newtownards and there is a presence in other clubs around the island including GBSC, LDYC and LRYC . SID (Sailing in Dublin) has a Fireball as part of their dinghy fleet and welcome new members. The class organises coaching events every year as well as social events. We are actively encouraging new members to join the class so if you would like to sail a Fireball then get in touch and we will help you find a spot or a boat. We also have two trial boats which can be loaned on a seasonal basis to responsible individuals or teams who are keen to try out the Fireball before committing to purchasing a boat. 2022 is a bumper year for the class as we are delighted to be hosting the World Championship at Lough Derg Yacht Club, Dromineer, Co Tipperary – grab a boat and see you there!

Worlds 2026 underway in Royal Torbay YC UK ...Day one saw full on winds nudging 30 knots...today, day two, was a different story...great report from Mark Jardine...

The forecast lighter winds on Monday came as a relief to many after the craziness of Sunday's blast, and presented a completely different scenario for the competitors and the race committee.
