Well, that caps off the First Team’s pre-season campaign! And tonight, Plymouth True Blues were good for us and deserved the win.

The first half was a fairly even affair, with both sides having their moments. Unfortunately, the visitors found the breakthrough late in the half and went into the break 1–0 ahead.

After half time, Waldon gave away a penalty — two in two games now! 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 — and Plymouth True Blues stepped up and converted comfortably to make it 2–0.

From there, we just couldn’t find a reply. PTB added two more goals and the game finished 0–4 to the visitors.

👏🏼 We’d like to wish Plymouth True Blues Res all the very best for the season ahead. We’ll see you again next year!

An absolutely impeccable shot-stopping display from Nathan tonight. Unfortunately, there were just a few too many shots for him to stop! 🤣🧤

Despite tonight’s result, we want to say a massive thank you to everyone involved with the First Team throughout pre-season.

The lads have pushed themselves, worked hard, competed and put in some seriously impressive performances along the way. There have been plenty of positives to take, and we’re in a really good spot heading into the new season.

Pre-season is done. The hard work starts now.

Match Report — Waldon Athletics 4–5 Barton Athletics

What a battle from start to finish! Waldon Athletics narrowly missed out in a thrilling nine-goal pre-season contest against Barton Athletics, with both sides giving everything until the final whistle.

The match was fiercely contested, and everyone involved put up a great fight. Waldon showed plenty of attacking intent and were awarded a penalty in the first half, creating an important opportunity to level the score 3-3 at the half time whistle.

There were a few silly mistakes that made the game more difficult than it needed to be, but the team’s work rate remained high throughout. The players continued to work hard for one another, kept pushing forward and showed excellent determination despite the setbacks.

Although the 5–4 defeat was not the result Waldon wanted, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance. The effort, togetherness and positivity on display were outstanding, and those qualities will be vital as the 26/27 season begins.

A proud performance from everyone involved. ⚽️💙❤️

Two young, hungry lads have earned their opportunity with the first team after an outstanding pre-season campaign.

Both Bailey and Fred have shown a fantastic willingness to learn, work hard and improve, fighting their way into the first-team squads through their performances and attitude.

They’ve both grabbed their opportunity with both hands, and we’re delighted to see them rewarded with a place amongst the first team. 💪🏼

The future is looking bright at Waldon. 🌟

After what some might say has been a surprisingly excellent pre-season campaign, the first team head into Wednesday’s final fixture showing some fantastic form, performances and, most importantly, real progress on and off the pitch.

No matter what happens on Wednesday, this squad is looking in stronger shape than last season and the hard work is starting to show.

What a turnaround from the lads today! After a flying start, Waldon found themselves behind at half time — but the second half was a completely different story. 👊🏼

We got off to the perfect start, with Luke Horsman picking up the ball and firing an absolute rocket into the bottom right corner to make it 1–0! 🚀⚽️

Then, for some reason, the lads decided they had forgotten how to play football! 😂 Two sloppy goals gifted to the Fishermen, who went into half time with a well-deserved 2–1 lead.

The managers then delivered the team talk of their lives — and whatever was said clearly worked!

Waldon came flying out for the second half with a point to prove.

And up steps LUKE HORSMAN again! 🔥 A vital goal to bring us back level at 2–2.

Then came the moment for our Aussie international trialist Dejan Maric 🇦🇺. Breaking the defensive line and finding himself one-on-one with the keeper, Dejan gave him the eyes, sent him the wrong way and calmly slipped it into the bottom corner.

3–2 WALDON! 🇦🇺⚽️🔥

Waldon were now in full control, and some fantastic football created the fourth.

Gabriel Gillingwater showed great composure to let the ball run through his legs, setting up Jack Gilmore, who kept his cool and slipped the ball beautifully through the keeper’s legs.

4–2! 💥⚽️

Then, with the game heading towards the final whistle, Luke Horsman decided he’d already done enough damage at the right end… so he thought he’d give Brixham a helping hand. 😂

With the Brixham right winger having apparently run every blade of grass on the pitch, Luke decided to assault him in the box and give away a penalty in the 90th minute! 🤦‍♂️😂

Brixham converted from the spot to make it 4–3, with the penalty being the last kick of the game!

A fantastic second-half response from the lads. To go into the break behind and come out with the attitude, fight and quality to turn it around shows exactly what this group is about.
