After a couple of cup fixtures Ely returned to Rhondda league action this week

T&G drew first blood after 17 minutes but Ely Valley responded 10 minutes later when Josh Baker bundled the ball in to the net.

Ciaran Foley, the stand in goalkeeper today, gave away a penalty in the 40th minute but managed to make up for it with a brilliant save to his bottom right hand side.

Unfortunately Ely were reduced to 10 men after a dissent.

The second half started with Ely on the front foot as they shrugged off the sending off.

Macauly Bird took a low corner in the 61st minute and found Josh Baker’s knee and the ball looped in to the net.

T&G then had a red card of their own after an outfield player handled the ball on the goal line, stopping a certain goal.
Macauly Bird took the penalty and made it 3-1!

Ciaran Foley also got himself an assist knocking the ball up the field to Corey Hughes who took the ball around the defender and slotted him for 4-1.

Osian Davis on from the bench, took a shot which deflected and bounced in front of the keeper and the ball managed to find its way in to the net!

Big win for the Valv! After a tough watch earlier in the week the boys treated us to goals galore today!

Jac Owen Reed opened the scoring with 2 in 2 mins. The first being a cross (although he swears it was a shot) over the keeper from the right hand side, off the post and in the net. The second came when he pounced on a mistake from the defender in possession and slotted past the keeper.

The 3rd goal came from the left side winger Jamie Crisp crossing a low ball in to Jamie Boyle who got his long awaited first goal for the Valv!

Macauly Bird got involved with the set pieces again taking a free kick from the half way line and dropping the ball down to Kyle Enticott who got his boot on it and hit it past the keeper.

The second half again took us around 15 mins to get going again. Tyler Evans crossing from the left with his right foot and finding Jamie Boyle for his second of the afternoon. Jamie Crisp then provided another assist from the left, this time for Kyle Enticott who also got two on the board with a backwards header.

All 5 subs came on and made a great impact on the game too today!

Jamie Cooke got a goal slotting past the keeper after being set up by Alex Wood. He was very unlucky not to get two today as his overhead kick effort slowly traveled towards the keeper’s hands but the defender had other ideas and deflected in to his own net.

Shay Cooke rounded off the scoring with a ninth after a Macauly Bird assist, squeezing the ball past the keeper.

A quick turnaround again, Summer looks to be over but the football season is just getting started!

A hard fought 3 points last night, very physical from the first minute until the last but Ely came out on top

First goal was scored by Macauly Bird doing Macauly Bird things. Mav takes the corner from the left and whips over everyone’s heads, hits the back post and goes in for 1-0!

Just a minute later though the home team scored to level the game which was of course disappointing.

Jac Owen Reee then got what would be the winning goal in the 37th minute after firing the ball in to the bottom right corner after a scramble in the box.

A red card and a few sin bins for the home team didn’t make it easier for Ely though as Ynyscynon still had the motivation to try and get an equaliser. Ely were also down to 10 due to an injury and having no subs left

Ely managed to hold on to get all 3 points
