✈️ Let’s share an aerotow launch with you!

No edits, no music and no fancy effects—just raw footage captured at Tibenham Airfield.

During an aerotow, a powered aircraft pulls the glider into the sky using a tow rope. Once the glider reaches the required height, the pilot releases the rope and begins soaring independently.

Take a look and enjoy the launch from the airfield. Would you like to experience it for yourself?

☀️ A beautiful blue sky and one of our gliders in all its glory—this is what flying days are made for!

Unlike powered aircraft, gliders don’t rely on an engine to stay in the air. Pilots use rising currents of warm air, known as thermals, to gain height and remain airborne.

With the right conditions, a glider can travel for miles using nothing but the natural movement of the air. Clever, peaceful and great fun! ✈️

✈️ AN EVENING OF TIBENHAM’S WARTIME HISTORY

Our resident author and historian Eric Ratcliffe will be giving a special presentation at the NGC Clubhouse, Tibenham Airfield:

📅 Thursday 12th November
🕖 7:00pm

Eric will be presenting a fascinating collection of over 400 wartime images, many of which have not seen the light of day for many years.

The collection mainly features the 445th Bomb Group, along with the people and places connected with wartime Tibenham. Some of these remarkable photographs were gifted to Eric by the late Art Shay, who served as a navigator with the 445th before going on to become a renowned professional photographer after the war.
