🚴♀️ TECHNICAL TUESDAY 🚴♀️
⭐️HANDLEBAR POSITION ⭐️
We’ve sorted our seat height and our seat fore/aft… so this week we’re moving forwards on the bike to our handlebars!
So, how high should they be and how far away from you should they sit? 👀
The answer is actually quite simple: wherever allows you to ride comfortably and naturally.
Unlike an outdoor bike, where handlebar position might be adjusted for aerodynamics, indoors we don’t need to worry about that. Our priority is finding a position that allows you to:
👉 Reach the handlebars without stretching or straining
👉 Keep a slight bend through your elbows
👉 Relax your shoulders rather than hunching them towards your ears
👉 Keep your torso comfortable so you can breathe freely
⬆️ Raising the handlebars brings them closer to you.
⬇️ Lowering them moves them further away.
On our Spinner® bikes, we can also adjust the handlebars forwards and backwards, giving us another way to find a comfortable reach.
Once your handlebar height is set, place your hands comfortably on the bars and bring your pedals to 3 and 9 o’clock. From there, we can adjust the handlebars forwards or backwards until your upper body feels naturally extended – without having to reach for them.
And remember, there isn’t one magical handlebar number that’s right for everyone!
Your proportions, flexibility and comfort are individual to you, which is exactly why we take the time to properly set up your bike. 🩵
If you’re ever reaching, shrugging your shoulders or just feel like something isn’t quite right, ask us to take a look. A small adjustment can make a big difference to how you feel on the bike. 🚴♀️
