⛳️ 125 Mixed Greensomes ⛳️

18 pairs braved the forecast for the 125 Mixed Greensomes, with strong winds, gathering storm clouds and a yellow weather warning adding a little extra challenge to the day! ⛳️🌧️

Thankfully, Tenby escaped the worst of the rain and there was some excellent scoring, with Diane Gough and Ian Duke taking the 125 Shield with a superb nett 68,as well as claiming the only ‘2’ of the day on the 13th.

Well done to all who took part and thanks, as always, to everyone who helped behind the scenes.

⛳ Ladies Open Day ⛳

The recent Tenby Ladies Open Day on Thursday 27 August was a wonderful success despite an early forecast of rain, which cleared by mid-morning to reveal a beautifully warm day. The event saw strong participation from local clubs as well as visitors from Germany, Berkshire, Herefordshire, Sherringham, and Perranporth, among others.

The Ladies Section provided exceptional support with ball spotting and with the halfway house offering its usual delightful refreshments which was a lovely treat for everyone. Vice Captain Louise was commended for her full support, alongside the Pro Shop team members and Beth, Linda, and Irene, who efficiently managed competition setup, scorecards, and smooth closing procedures.

Special thanks were extended to Vice President Mel Smith and Heather Bucket for their excellent management of the raffle. The greenkeepers were praised for maintaining the course in fantastic condition despite the challenging hot weather.

Starters Gethin and Brian kept the tees running smoothly and spirits high with their friendly interactions, while course marshalls and ball spotters, including Derek Cole, Adrian Palmer, Martin Spurin Wyndham, and Chris Hughes ensured the event flowed seamlessly.

Wyndham and Ann, the Open Day specialists, were recognized for their invaluable assistance throughout the day. Additional gratitude was expressed to the office staff, the 19th hole team, and the catering staff for their hard work and attentiveness.

The event successfully raised £667 from the raffle for the Alzheimer's Society, with special thanks also given to Gravells Kia cars of Narberth and the 4 ball vouchers from various golf clubs for their sponsorship and support.

Overall, the Open Day was an amazing occasion, and heartfelt thanks go to everyone involved. We look forward to welcoming all participants back next year.

🏆 COBB CUP & REGIMENTAL BOWL

There was plenty of drama at Tenby Golf Club on Saturday 22 August as 45 players battled it out over 36 holes in two of the biggest stroke play competitions of the season.

Congratulations to Adam Thorne, winner of the Regimental Bowl, and Roy Edwards, who came through a sudden-death play-off to win the Cobb Cup and be crowned Champion Golfer of the Year! 👏⛳

⛳ GOLF CLUB VICTORIOUS IN BOWLS MATCH ⛳

Members of Tenby Golf Club and Tenby Bowling Club enjoyed their annual bowls fixture recently.

The TGC Team benefit from a modest handicap start and TBC fielded several beginners. However, the match was competitive as usual and played in good spirit. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all those who took part and also the spectators.

The match is played in memory of Arthur Ormond MBE. Arthur was President of TBC when he passed in 2002. Each club had three teams of four bowlers.

Just like the fairways at TGC, the bowling green was brown due to the preceding hot and rainless weather. The match was played over 18 ends. TGC won two of the three rinks and by 74 shots to 46 overall.
