💚🖤Message from the Ladies Captain Rachel Jones

⭐ Brilliant end to a great season, it’s been a really positive year for Willey ladies finishing second in our league!💥

😮‍💨We started the year with some extremely close games and have grown over the last few months into a very competitive side finishing the season today!

🤩The reduction in wides and greater consistency with the ball has been really encouraging and is something we can continue to build over winter.

⭐ We've had some stand out moments whether it be fabulous batting performances from Gemma and Cath (both having spells of having to retire not out), boundary saves from Lizzy, Jodie and Gem, run out partnerships and wickets galore. This season has been fast, fun and hot! Here's to 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣7️⃣🖤💚

👏🏼Big thank you to everyone who has played, supported, coached, scored, umpired, or helped out along the way!

🏏 Willey Ladies v Madeley Ladies
A brilliant all‑round showing from Willey this morning — disciplined bowling, sharp fielding and real control throughout the innings.

🔴The attack held Madeley to 92–5, with wickets shared across the group and every bowler contributing to sustained pressure from ball one.

🏏With the bat, Willey’s top order kept things steady and composed — Cath Searle (16), Helen Jones (17) and Rachel Jones (17) all providing important runs to anchor the chase and keep momentum moving in the right direction.

⭐ Captain’s Player – Carla Brassington
Carla was absolutely on point — 4 overs, 2 wickets for just 10 runs, including a pivotal breakthrough that swung the game Willey’s way… Unflappable and totally dependable as she has been all season 🥰

💚🖤The ladies final game of the season resulted in a 2nd place finish in Division 1…. Lots of growth in development, team work and some youth coming through to keep us all feeling younger!

💚We have the floodlit festival at Wrekin College to look forward to in a couple of weeks and also the start of the indoor leagues.

🖤Thank you to Matt Smout Kieron Hatton and Rich Cooper for your support and help in the field.

💚🖤 Willey Ladies v Pontesbury Ladies – Women’s Softball 🏏

A tough one for the Willey ladies yesterday as they played the lovely Pontesbury Cricket Club team! Pontesbury Cricket Club

Willey batted first, putting 105 all out from 20 overs on the board.

There were some great contributions throughout the innings, with Gemma Foster and Jodie Foster both making 19, Cath Searle adding 16, the rest chipping in. With 27 extras also added, the team battled right through to the end. 👏

Pontesbury came out chasing and reached 106/2 from just 14.5 overs, winning by 7 wickets. A special mention to our bowlers, who kept battling away — Helen Jones and Rachel Jones both picking up wickets, while Issy Walters, Susie Brown, Carla Brassington and Jodie Foster all put in valuable spells. 💪🏏

But yesterday wasn’t just about the result. ❤️ Pontesbury were an absolute pleasure to play against — friendly, welcoming and full of great spirit throughout the game. It’s always lovely to see this team, and games like this are exactly what women’s cricket and softball should be about: enjoying the game, supporting each other and having a good laugh along the way! 🥰🏏

🌟 CAPTAIN’S PLAYER – JODIE FOSTER 🌟Jodie Foster
Jodie absolutely threw herself into everything yesterday! 💪 She delivered with the ball, the bat and in the field, but her contribution didn’t stop there.
🌟 She gave me fantastic support off the pitch too, talking through possible tactics and outcomes and helping me think through different situations during the game. Her support was invaluable and it was brilliant to watch her confidence grow with the bat as the innings progressed. ❤️
A thoroughly deserved Captain’s Player! 👏🚀

Well done ladies — another game, another opportunity to learn, improve and enjoy playing together. 💚🖤

And thank you Pontesbury for being the lovely team you are — always good to see you! 🥰🏏

💚🖤

💚🖤Willey 1sts Match Report
A game against 🔝 of the league for the 1sts this week knowing it will be a tough game and really needing a result to push us out of the bottom 2‼️

😵‍💫The day started off in a strange fashion with us winning the toss for only the 3rd time all season 🫣

🔴Electing to bowl first, hoping to make the most of the overhead condition and it worked as opening pair Kieron Hatton (4-31 from 9) and Cameron Wallis (2-41) 😎 taking the top with them!!

🔴Shane Hatton (1-9) and Will Brown (3-7) took the remaining wickets and bowling frankwell out for just 99😬.

🏏The Chase didn’t go exactly to plan as we lost early wickets!! And the frankwell bowling attack put in a great display 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

🏏Cameron Wallis (12) being the pick of the top 5

🏏Then Iwan Morgan (18) came in and played an extremely patient innings and steadied the flow of wickets

🏏Fortunately, we dug deep and our 9 and 10 did the damage as Tim Bellett (20*) and Callum Bailey (13*) took us home

👊🏼We finished on 102-8 from 39.2 overs

This was a huge win for us as it takes us out of the bottom 2 with just 5 games remaining 🤗

We travel to Wheaton Aston on Saturday hoping to get another win under our belts🙌🏼
