Just thought we’d keep you updated.

We’ve eventually got hold of Stonegate and their stupid online systems 🤬

Currently, we have had the roofers back out to weatherproof the roof (supposedly and for how long 🤷🏽‍♂️), the ceiling did collapse whilst we were closed so that has also been cleaned up. Electrician has has been to make the wiring safe along with the fire alarm system.

We are awaiting a specialist cleaning company today to dry the building out and give the carpets a good clean as they smell like a wet dog that’s been trapped in a 1980’s caravan with a forgotten PE kit!

Our plan, 🤞🏼 is to open potentially Thursday but most likely by Friday morning. Depends on how things go today.

Well… this wasn’t quite the weekend entertainment we had planned. 🌧️🪣

Unfortunately, The Waggon has decided to explore its potential as an indoor water park.

Following significant water ingress from the recent heavy rain, we’ve spoken with our insurer and have been advised to temporarily close due to electrical and health & safety concerns. Apparently there is some minor rules about keeping people safe or some sh*t.

We’re absolutely gutted, but apparently “pints with a complimentary indoor shower” isn’t an acceptable business model. Who knew?

Stonegate now need to assess the building and get things made safe before we can reopen.

Hopefully we’ll be back pouring pints rather than collecting rainwater very soon. 🍺

After approximately 4 months without any meaningful rain, Stonegate finally arranged for our roof to be replaced.

Naturally, the exact week they took the roof apart, the heavens opened. 🌧️😂

So we’re delighted to announce Taunton’s newest attraction…

🌊 THE WAGGON WATERPARK 🌊

Featuring rooftop lagoons, indoor waterfalls, unexpected splash zones and several areas of the pub currently enjoying a rather more open-plan relationship with the weather than we’d ideally like.

You genuinely couldn’t make it up. 🤦‍♂️

We’re still open, we’re still pouring pints, and we’re hoping the next phase of the refurbishment involves putting the water on the outside of the building. 🍺

When you just can’t t reach the top! Well done girls for a grand job ❤️ team work makes the dream work!

A polite reminder from The Waggon 🍻

We absolutely love being part of your birthdays, anniversaries and celebrations, and we’re always grateful that you choose to spend them with us.

However, if you’re planning to visit as a larger group, please let us know in advance. We don’t advertise everything that is happening at the pub so you may be turned away if we have other things going on.

We’ve recently had several occasions where groups of 15–20+ people have arrived without any prior booking or warning. Whilst we’ll always do our best to accommodate everyone, unexpected large groups put significant pressure on our bar and team, particularly at busy times.

A quick phone call, Facebook message or booking allows us to plan staffing, order stock, prepare accordingly and make sure everyone—both your group and our other customers—receives the service they deserve.

Even if you don’t need a reserved area or a set menu, we’d really appreciate a heads-up if you’re planning a celebration with a larger party.
