Spent Bank Holiday Monday sorting the shop/workshop out - we are far from finished, but at least we're operational. We've moved the workshop into the back of the shop, and Learn2Ride/Learn2Cycle is now in the old workshop. Its functional, far from finished, but not bad for a days work. Pop in at the weekend and let us know what you think! 😁🔧🪛🔩⚙️🚴‍♂️🚵‍♂️

On Friday 31st July from 13:00 - 16:00 we will be holding a FREE bike marking event at the BMX Track in Glascote Heath.

The event has been created to provide cycle security advice and offer security marking and registration onto the BikeRegister online database.

Registering your bike helps police and retailers identify and verify the legitimate owner of bikes that have been stolen or are being resold. It can lead to both victims being reunited with their property and the identification of offenders.

You MUST bring your bike with you to the event.

🚲 Do You Remember This Bike? 🚲

Some of you may remember this incredible vintage Swiss Army bicycle that found a new home after being sold from Jessie’s Journey HQ.

Well, we’re delighted to tell you that its owner Cary Gross has lovingly restored this 90-year-old Swiss Military MO-05 Infantry bicycle to its former glory and now he’s putting it to work for an amazing cause.

Meet “Tail End Charlie” a 65lb, single speed military bike with one gear, ancient brakes, and a top speed best described as “eventually!” 😄

This Armed Forces Weekend, its rider will be taking on a gruelling 60-mile fundraising challenge, visiting five Armed Forces locations across Staffordshire and Warwickshire:

📍 Tamworth
📍 Atherstone
📍 National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas
📍 Staffordshire Regiment Museum
📍 Walsall Arboretum

The challenge has two important aims:

🇬🇧 To recognise and celebrate the incredible service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces community.

🎗️ To raise vital funds for Jessie’s Journey, helping us continue supporting children and families affected by cancer.

The ride begins from Tamworth Castle Grounds at approximately 10:45am on Saturday 27th June, and Gary will be joined for part of the journey by the wonderful John Hills.

We were thrilled to welcome Gary back to our new HQ in Ankerside Shopping Centre today, where he shared his plans with us. Seeing this bike, which once sat in our store, become part of such a meaningful challenge is truly special.

If you’d like to support this fantastic effort, please consider making a donation and sharing this post.

❤️ Every pound raised helps us continue our work supporting local children and families when they need it most.

Good luck from all of us at Jessie’s Journey, we’ll be cheering you on every mile of the way! 🚲💖

What a fantastic day!! Meeting the Mayor of Tamworth, to discuss the build story behind the 1937 Swiss Army bike. Along with watching Gary, the bikes current "curator" as he calls himself, complete the ride for Mixed Mental Health from Derby to Tamworth. Well done to all those involved.
We are looking forward to working with Gary in the future on more charity rides.

If you have a bike, vintage or not, that you've been putting off riding, as it needs work, a service or a complete overhaul, get in touch with us at Dave Owen Cycles 🚴‍♂️🚵‍♂️🛠🪛🔩⚙️⛓️
