BKF British Karate International Championships – Sheffield 🥋

Day 3 completed ✅️ — and what a day it’s been!

Another early start and another full day of karate, nerves, excitement and some fantastic performances. ❤️🥋

First up was Niah in the Junior Female Kata, where she put in a brilliant performance and came away with an amazing individual Bronze medal 🥉. Such a great achievement and so well deserved! 👏💪

Caian came incredibly close in his category. He fought his way through to the repechage Bronze medal match and unfortunately lost by the smallest of margins, 2–1. 💔 It’s always tough to come so close to a medal, but what a fantastic effort and performance from him. He should be really proud of himself. 👏🥋

Chloe had a tough day competing in the U21 category, facing some very strong opposition. She lost in the first round and then went on to face another extremely tough opponent in the Senior category, narrowly losing 2–1. 🥋💪 Although the results didn’t go Chloe’s way, she showed that she can compete at this level and can take plenty of positives from the experience.

And then came another fantastic result for Niah and Chloe as they teamed up in Senior Female Pairs Kata and took home a brilliant Silver medal 🥈! 👏🔥

James also fought extremely well in the Junior Male -76kg Kumite. He had a really close fight, finishing 6–6, with the result unfortunately going against him due to some small mistakes. It was a tough way to lose, especially in such a closely fought match, but James showed plenty of fight and determination throughout. 💪🔥 These are the fights you learn the most from, and he can definitely take plenty of positives away from it.

There have been some highs, some disappointments, plenty of nerves, lots of hard-fought battles and, most importantly, lots of experience gained. Every single one of you has given your absolute best and represented yourselves and the club brilliantly. ❤️🥋

We couldn’t be prouder of every one of you! ❤️🥋

And now… we’re finally home! 🏠 After a long drive back from Sheffield, it’s time to put our feet up, get some well-earned rest and reflect on what has been an amazing weekend. 🚗💨😴

BKF British Karate International Championships – Sheffield 🥋

🥋Day 1 & 2 completed ✅️

We travelled up to Sheffield on Friday, and thankfully the weather and traffic weren’t too bad considering it’s a bank holiday weekend. I was expecting the roads to be a lot worse! 😅

Once we arrived, we quickly settled into the hotel before heading out to Wetherspoons for some food and then an early night ready for a busy weekend of karate. 🥋💪

Saturday started bright and early with Megan taking to the mat. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be her day as she lost a very close first-round 2–1. She gave it everything, and although the result didn’t go our way, we’re still incredibly proud of her. ❤️

Later in the day it was Bella’s turn, and this one was special as it was her first fight in over a year. She got off to a fantastic start and was leading 3–1, looking strong and confident, before unfortunately being disqualified. A really tough way for the fight to end after putting in such a great performance, but she can hold her head high. 👏🥋

A massive well done to both girls for giving it their all and representing yourselves and the club so well. ❤️

Tomorrow brings another big day, so good luck to Caian, Chloe, Niah and James! 🍀🥋

🥋✨ A Fantastic Grading Day! ✨🥋

Today’s grading was another great success! 👏💪

Our new approach of holding gradings in smaller groups is really working. It allows us to give each student the individual attention they deserve, meaning we can really focus on each student’s personal progress, improvements and the standard they are working towards.

It was fantastic to see everyone giving their best today. Every student showed great improvement, confidence, focus and strong technique, and it was clear to see how much progress they have made through their training. 🥋🔥

A huge well done to everyone who graded today! 👏✨

Keep training, keep improving and keep pushing yourselves — your hard work is paying off! 🥋🔥

Proud of you all! 👏🥋✨

What an incredible day yesterday for the team! 🥋👊

Huge congratulations to everyone who competed — especially our first-time competitors. Stepping onto the tatami for the first time takes real courage, and you all showed outstanding spirit, determination, and effort from start to finish.

I’m incredibly proud of every single one of you for giving it your all. A massive thank you as well to Karl and Cherie for all their hard work coaching throughout the day — we couldn’t have done it without you.

A truly fantastic day. Well done, team! 💛🔥

With the extremely warm weather forecast for tomorrow and schools closing, I've made the decision not to run normal training tomorrow evening. I will still be there from 6–7 for anyone who wants to go over anything before the competition on the weekend.
Alternatively, if anyone wants to pop up to discuss information before the weekend, I will be there. Otherwise, enjoy the sun and time off school, but stay safe in the sun.
