What a fantastic first festival for our Under 8 Girls! ⚽️💙 United

The girls were absolutely amazing today, in their 5 games they gave everything in every match.

Our first game was against Talycopa, where the girls got off to a brilliant start scoring 3 goals ⚽️

Our second game was against Penclawdd and we didnt manage to score but we played them again in the fourth game, this time scoring 3! The girls were absolutely incredible — matching the opposition physically, showing huge determination and refusing to quit. 💪

A special mention has to go to Gwennan, our new shot-stopper, who absolutely excelled in goal today! 🧤👏 She made around 4–5 fantastic saves in that game alone and showed incredible confidence between the sticks. What a debut! 🌟

Our third game was against Dafen, where once again the girls battled right until the final whistle.
We then finished with another match against Talycopa, grabbing another 3 goals. 👏⚽️

There were goals from Delilah, Elsi, Tildie, Iyla and Teleri, with a very special mention for Teleri, who scored 3 goals in her first ever game! 🤩 She ran non-stop from the first whistle to the last and was absolutely incredible.
The girls faced a lot of physicality today, but they matched it amazingly well. Their effort, determination, teamwork and attitude were fantastic from beginning to end.

For our first ever 5-a-side festival, we couldn't be prouder of them. 💙
A fantastic day and brilliant preparation for the season ahead. We can't wait to see what this group of girls can achieve! 💙⚽️

Another good home win for our first team yesterday against a good Ynysmeudwy team.

We started the game so fast I think we caught our visitors out after five minutes we were 2-0 up after a first goal for the club from Carwyn after a fantastic run and a good finish with his left foot, then a couple of minutes later a very similar goal but this time Zac breaking through and finishing with confidence. We could easily have extended the lead during the first half but we didn’t take the chances we created and to be fair the visitors came back int to the game and got their first goal just before half time.

We again struck early in the second half with Ross finishing off nicely, again the visitors hit back again with a very good finish. We then scored 2 goals in 2 minutes with both Ross and Zac getting their second goals of the day. And just to make the last 10 mins interesting another good strike from just outside the box made it 5-3 but we managed to hold out the last 10 minutes and gaining another 3 points at home.

The first teams next game is Saturday away to Cwrt Herbert with a 2pm kick off.

A frustrating result today, but a second-half performance we can take plenty from.

We never really got started in the first half and found ourselves 3-0 down at the break. We played too many hopeful long balls, communication wasn’t good enough and we weren’t competing for enough second balls. In fairness, Cilfrew punished us and took the chances they created.

At half-time we spoke about getting the ball down, playing our football, communicating more and making sure we won those second balls. The message was simple — get the first goal and see what happens.

The response was excellent.

The intensity was there straight from the restart and on 47 minutes a lovely through ball from Iestyn found Jac. He produced a brilliant touch to bring the ball down out of the air, leaving the keeper stranded, before calmly stroking it into the empty net to make it 3-1.

We kept the pressure and intensity high and got our reward again on 60 minutes, with the goal coming from a brilliant piece of work from Mozza.

Cilfrew were attacking around our 18-yard box when Mozza sprinted back to win possession, before driving virtually the full length of the pitch. He squared it to Bish, who hit a great effort that the keeper could only parry, and Jac was exactly where he needed to be to put away the rebound for his second and make it 3-2.

From there we had further chances and really pushed for the equaliser, but unfortunately committing bodies forward left us exposed and Cilfrew broke away to score a fourth and secure the three points.

Disappointing to lose, particularly after giving ourselves so much to do in the first half, but the character, intensity and football we showed after the break was a massive improvement. If we can produce that second-half performance from the first whistle, the results will come.

Our next game is against Cwmamman reserves on Tuesday with a 6.15pm kick off.

What a fantastic game last night at Parc Afon Twrch, both teams wanting to play with a good blend of youngsters and experience on show for both sides.

In a thrilling first half with both sides creating good chances and both keepers making good saves, but both teams did manage to score twice so half time score was 2-2, in the second half Cwm scored twice in the first 20 minutes, before Llandarcy puled one back and put Cwm under a lot of pressure but Cwm broke away with 10 to go and scored their fifth of the game, but fair play Llandarcy didn’t stop there and scored their fourth with the last kick of the game.

Excellent game of football and a credit to both side for playing the game in a fantastic spirt.

After the disappointment of Saturdays game being cancelled late the boys were ready to go last night and they started the game very strongly but couldn’t break down a good Neath side and it was the visitors who took the lead after half an hour a good counter attack lead to Rhys putting the ball in his own net. To be fair the boys just carried on like they were before the goal and were back level 10 minutes later with a good volley from the edge of the box from Harvey.

Half time score 1-1.

Neath started the second half on the front foot and put us under pressure in the early stages of the half, but we started to get back on the ball and took the lead after 75 minutes with a great ball from Harvey releasing Joseff who cut the ball back for Ross to finish off and put us in the lead. We then went 3-1 up with Ross turning provider with a good cross for Shaun to head home and in the dying minutes it was Shaun’s turn to turn provider with some great work setting up Josh who finished from the edge of the box.

Our next game is against Ynysmeudwy on Saturday at home with a 2pm kick off.
