Today was a massive day for me. 🎣
I know the Bluefin Tuna fishing in Devon and Cornwall is amazing, but today we finally hooked up our first Tuna after so much effort, missed fish and lost fish.
If someone had told me 10 years ago that one day I’d be fishing for Bluefin Tuna out of Swanage, I’d have laughed at them!
What a journey it’s been to get here, and what an incredible feeling to finally see that first Bluefin alongside the boat. It’s a real privilege to be part of the UK catch-and-release fishery. 🐟💙
Great work on the rod, Brown! The fish measured 69 inches, so was approximately 200 lb. After a short fight, the fish was released and swam off very strongly.
A day I certainly won’t forget. 🎣💙

🦀 Tomorrow THURSDAY 13th August we are hosting the Swanage Lifeboat Station Swanage lifeboat week Crabbing Competition!! After postponing yesterday’s scheduled date due to Easterly wind, tomorrow is looking far better! 🦀

Registration is from 9.30AM at our kiosk on the Stone Quay and entry is £2 CASH please 🙏

Bait, Lines and Buckets all available to buy by CARD only.

🥇Prize for most caught is a beginners Rod & Reel!

With it being a competition, we absolutely do not want to see overcrowded buckets! If a bucket is overcrowded we will happily step in and ask to release them, and refusal will mean being disqualified 🙁
So, bring plenty of buckets, containers etc 🪣🪣 and be sure to refresh with SEAWATER regularly!

**There is no rule with what you catch them with, however no hooks and with the best possible handling care. Please be respectful to our marine life and enjoy yourselves 🦀❤️❤️🦀

If you simply want to come down and make a donation to the RNLI we will happily collect this.

🦀🦀 We are excited for Swanage Carnival Crabbing Competition tomorrow, at the Stone Quay. We will be open in the Kiosk at 9am with plenty of the best smelly crab bait!
We really do want our crabs to be cared for, and with a competition, please please do take a moment to remind yourself what you and the family can do to care for them 🙏🙏🙏 We will not be held back from reminding people of this if we see over crowding in buckets, or any rough handling. It might just mean you may need a few more buckets than you think… ☀️🪣🥵🦀🦀

I know I’ve said it before, but one of the best parts of my job is the friends I make along the way. The lads I had on board over the weekend have been coming with me for 27 years, and on Saturday we gave Mick his final trip, as I had the honour of scattering his ashes at sea.
Rest in peace, my old mate. Thank you for all the laughs and memories.
