Thanks to the kind support of the National Lottery Community Fund, all of our workshops are completely FREE to attend, with materials provided. They’re a great opportunity to learn practical gardening skills, have a go at something new and meet other people from the local community.

Well, Monty Don is retiring from Gardeners’ World, and the social entrepreneur and horticultural therapist in me says a huge thank you for his hard work, dedication and for championing the positive impact that gardens and gardening can have on people’s lives.
But the professional horticulturist in me also wonders whether this could be an opportunity for Gardeners’ World to have an even greater impact on the horticultural industry — inspiring more young people to consider horticulture as a career, while helping the wider public appreciate the wonderful world of plants and gardens, and the knowledge and skills that professional horticulturists bring. So BBC please choose the next head gardener at GW carefully!
My favourite Monty moment was receiving an award with a SEND school group we had worked with at Gardeners’ World Live. He was absolutely brilliant with the young people and incredibly obliging.
The strangest part, though, was the almost harem of gardening groupies surrounding him! 😂 After shaking hands with Monty, I came off stage and one of them grabbed my hand and exclaimed:
“Look — this hand has touched Monty!”
Who knew there was a rock ’n’ roll element to the world of gardening? 🌱🎸😂

Judging began yesterday for the West Midlands Grow and Garden Awards 2926 ! We are extremely excited about announcing the results on Saturday why not come along between 10. and 3 and have a look at the entries plus their results. Book a place on the Eventbrite link 👇

We are rapidly approaching the judging stage of the West Midlands Grow and Garden Competition 2026, and over the next two weeks we will be busy collecting/accepting entries for assessing this year's fantastic entries. I thought it was important to reach out to you to save this date in your diary!

🌿Introducing - Rob's Rangers!🌿

A brand new learning experience for preschool children, set in the beautiful heritage orchard at Roots to Fruit 🍎

Led by our EYFS specialist Robert - Rob's Rangers will give little ones the chance to explore, learn and grow through nature-based play and hands-on experiences including:

🌱 Gardening
🎵 Music & Games
🌳 Forest School & bushcraft-inspired activities
🐞 Nature discovery and outdoor learning

We're inviting playgroups and nursery settings in the Streetly, Sutton Coldfield & Walsall areas to register their interest and find out more. There's absolutely no commitment at this stage - just an opportunity to hear about what's coming and how your children could benefit from spending meaningful time learning in the natural world.

Rob's Rangers is currently being enjoyed by nursery settings locally and the feedback from parents, staff and children has been exceptional 😃!
