⛳ YOUR COUNTY CARD IS GOING DIGITAL
Every playing member of a Durham club gets a County Card — free, as part of the affiliation fee you already pay. It gets you a discounted green fee at over 1,300 clubs across the country.
From now on, the card lives in the Golf Genius app. Physical cards are still available from your Club Secretary while stocks last, but they are not being reprinted. Once they're gone, the app is the only way to get one.
Getting the digital card takes two minutes:
1️⃣ Register on the DCGU Golf Genius portal with your WHS/CDH number and surname
2️⃣ Download the free Golf Genius app and sign in
3️⃣ Menu → County Card → add to cart → check out (£0, no payment details needed)
4️⃣ Your card appears in the app — show it on your phone when you book or arrive
43 Durham clubs take part, and your card is valid until your next subscription renewal. Pay your subs, refresh the app, and the expiry updates itself.
Green fees are set by each club — usually the members' guest rate — so always ring ahead to check rates and availability.
Switch now and you'll never lose it in a jacket pocket again. 📱

Five in one county side. Not bad going. 🏌😀
Wearside was superbly represented at Keswick yesterday, with five of our juniors selected for the Durham County U18 team — and they came home with a resounding 13.5–1.5 victory. 🏆
Left to right: Evan Oliver, Alex Gordon, Oscar Hancill, Oscar O'Connor and Harry Sheen.
Five players from one club in a county side says everything about the strength of our junior section, and about the work going into it. Congratulations to all five, and to Durham on a fine result.

Tomorrow morning Wearside very own Harry Sheen tees it up in the semi-final of the St Andrews Junior Open, playing the Old Course. It doesn't get much bigger than that for a junior golfer.
We're all behind you, Harry. Go and enjoy every single shot of it.

🤔🏌️ Rules Question: Does anyone get a penalty when a playing partner gives golfing advice that you haven't asked for?

These shots really do say everything about what makes our course so special.
The river, the rolling fairways, the bunkers that keep you honest, the countryside stretching out beyond the greens. It all sits right here on the edge of Sunderland, and on a summer evening it looks like this.
We're proud of every hole on this course, and we'd love for you to come and play it.

⛳ Supporting the Next Generation — Wearside Golf Club Junior Bursary Programme
We're proud to announce the launch of the Wearside Golf Club Junior Golf Bursary Programme — a new initiative created to support our talented young golfers as they progress through the county, national and international amateur pathways.
As juniors step up to represent Durham County Golf and compete in recognised national championships, the costs of entry fees, travel and specialist coaching can quickly add up. Our bursary programme is designed to ease that burden, helping our young players focus on what matters most: their golf.
The programme offers support towards:
🏆 Entry fees for approved county, regional, national and international events
🎯 Approved coaching and player development with PGA-qualified coaches
📈 Other performance-related costs supporting a player's representative pathway
In return, our supported players will act as ambassadors for the club, share their season's achievements, and give back by helping with junior development and club activity — inspiring the next group coming through behind them.
At Wearside, we believe talent should never be held back by cost. This is about opening doors, building a genuine pathway from first swing to national stage, and investing in the future of golf here on Wearside and across Durham.
Junior members and parents can find full eligibility details and how to apply by getting in touch with the club.
